The QWERTY layout didn't come on the first typewriter. The first typewriters had the letters all in alphabetical order. One thing the QWERTY layout was good for was demonstrations: note that the letters in 'typewriter' are all in one row, making it look really fast to type...

I don't type the "right" way, and I get 70 WPM on QWERTY. I'm learning Dvorak (correctly, because it doesn't hurt like correct QWERTY) right now. It took me just about 3 hours of learning to memorise the layout, so I'm getting to be a bit more efficient with it now. This is certainly something fun to play around with. ^_^

it downloaded ok but whe I click it to start it up, it quits unexpectedly every time!! I don't know what it does anyway, so I trashed it.
