MM to iCal0.7

27 April 2004

Export directly into iCal.

Overview

MM to iCal is a script that is useful for folks running the Meetingmaker calendar software. There is no built in way in Meetingmaker to export your calendar directly into iCal, so this script takes an output format that it does provide and brings that data into iCal.

This is primarily useful if you need to sync with a device that Meetingmaker doesn't sync to, basically something other than a Palm. So, if you've got a Bluetooth phone, an iPod, or other device that works with iSync, this can help greatly. Scheduling is one way only (no way to feed back into Meetingmaker, and it's a manual process, but it's better than nothing.

Jim- Nicely done. I've been looking for something like this for some time - it's nice to see someone step up and create this. Since I don't have a Nokia phone, my main purpose in using the app is to get my work schedule on the same "page" as the rest of my life - and I keep that in iCal. iCal's really onto something with the multiple calendar view capability, and I prefer it to MM and Outlook for that reason. I wonder if the following are doable feature requests: - support repeating/recurring MM appointments - support meeting attendees (add these to the attendees list within an iCal event). - automating the task of exporting from MM client Regardless, it's great to see an app for exporting events out of MM. Thanks for taking the effort. Jim Coyer

This script looks great but the features people are asking about are possible with the new text export in Meeting Maker 8.5.x since it exports that guest list directly to the Notes field. Meeting Maker added more fields to the export in the newer version so they could do a single user restore by doing a text export and using Calendar Converter to import to a new account without having to modify the file at all. So unfortunately that means this script does not work with the new version. Anyone think of upgrading?

This freeware works well with MM 7.3. I have no trouble copying repeating meetings, as one reviewer noted. Only wish that banners could be copied Thanks for developing this stuff! As an aside, I may be one of the few people who likes MM. I'm especially grateful for being able to look at my monthly and daily calendar at the same time and the flexibility of having different types of notices (banners and appointments).

Very nice! I use it frequently because I don't like MM too much, and this allows me to keep my work appts and the like (as required by my employer) synced with iCal. Thanks!
