Desktop caller ID for bluetooth mobile phones.

AWESOME! I like keep my phone in my backpack so I don't misplace it, but had to turn up the ringer really loud so not to miss any calls. Now with BluePhoneMenu, I can keep the ringer off, and still be alerted when I have an incoming call. One of those, "I don't know how I got along without it" programs. Keep up the great work.

This is probably the most convenient program I've ever come across on the Mac. From now on, all I need is a bluetooth phone, and a size fit for my pocket. All I need is to use the menu to read and send SMS, which alone is an ingenious ability. Never fancied typing on a phone. The ability to make a call from the program and afterwards lift the phone to your ear, or using a headset, is also great. What I do miss, however, is a Service that allows me to highlight a phone number and make a call.

Hello April, This is a problem that has to do more with SonyEricsson than with BluePhoneMenu or with Apple. It is the way that the AT commands are sent via BT out to the network(GSM). You would be better sending your comments to SE. I have tried but they will not address the issue.

Erm, I'd love to use this app but it makes my iBook lock up and require a restart when I come back from an extended absence (of maybe half an hour). I have a T39m and am running the latest version of Panther. Any ideas?

To the developer: A fantastic app, works wonderfully thanks! Two things would make it even better: - a "send sms to..." menu item that brings up the address book so we don't have to type the name. - an improved menu bar icon. The lopsided and off-centre telephone looks out of place next to the much fuller and front-on Apple icons. Perhaps a designer out there would like to mock up a great icon for this great app?

There's a new version every 5 minutes! Can any testing not be done before each and every release? ONe thing is to have a quick turn around on bugs, but another is to throw things online every 5 minutes. Awesome software... but let's give the QA cycle time to find the bugs before each and every version is released.

This is what the mac community is all about-the developer cares about the product, responds to emails/suggestions, and best of all, it's FREE! He even sent me a pre-release version to try out on my V600, because I had written to him about the lack of SMS support-well, it worked, and I know that this was in part because I was able to send him the log file he asked for in the readme.txt. This is GREAT software, and well worth the d/l-I am confident that ANY issues you bring to the developer's attention will be promptly dealt with. A+! Chris if this included syncing, it would be all I need!

To Chris, Why would you need syncing? What would you sync to other than the phone book and iSync does this pretty well in most cases.

Great app! Works fine with my T630 and iMac. Usefull. The only thing that would make this app absolutely perfect is to add hands-free functionality, i.e. being able to use the mike and speakers of the Mac to make calls. Would be very willing to pay a reasonable fee for this app if this would be added. But nevertheless: thank you developpers!!

Excellent App! Makes using a BT phone easy. Finally! Some features request: I'd love to be able to save all SMS to a file before erasing them. I miss the "request feedback" option for sms (notification when the sms you sent is received). To have the picture of the caller or person you phone to (from Address Book) would be nice. Thanks for this great app.

I second this ability to save text messages. I am from the Philippines, here I think we text message more than the entire planet combined. It has become so prevalent and accepted that I get patient referrals and staus updates from the nurses and staff through SMS. It would save a lot of time If I could save sent and received messages into a text file for incorporation to patient and hospital records. Thanks

This is a lovely application, nice to use and does nearly everything i could need, far more flexible with SMS than the limited options on apple's address book. Just one small suggestion, would it possible for the developer to add 'Speak caller ID' as an option aswell as the ring. This way i wouldn't even need to look at the screen to know who was calling me. Other than that excellent work, thanks! :o)

Perhaps you should stick to commenting on the product instead of the posters. I find his comments much more helpful than yours. In fact, if there are problems, I would imagine the developer would appreciate knowing as well. As an owner of a T616, I can corroborate his points. While a good product start, it still needs improvement in areas.

@D9, Maybe it was the tone in which the previous posted his comments which seemed a bit uncalled for, expecially since this is a free product and the developer is using his free time to do us all a favor. I little more appreciation and humbleness when making a critical statement might go a long way. Just my opinion. As I stated, this is a great product and could easily cost money due to the functionality and the frequency of updates. My hat goes off to the author.

Works great for incoming calls on my T616. BUT - I am unable to make outgoing calls. My T616 is properly paired. BluePhoneMenu does appear to be able to reply, but no initiation of calls. Agree with other poster about making this work with Salling Clicker. At present, have to give up Clicker to use BluePhoneMenu. Alternatively, add a feature to allow iChat availability recognition.

After teething problems with my P800 i had a few chats with the developer, who responds really quickly to any queries. Anyhow all seems fine now and its a great little app to use, especially when you have your phone on silent during a meeting, at least you can see if its someone you need to talk to. I particularly like the reconnection feature that the app has, addressbook doesnt do this for you, no more needing to reconnect when you return to your desk. This app can only get better, with say an option to select the alert sound.Great work and great price :)

I would love love love to have the optioin to make this be either a menu item or a floater window. I like to constantly see what my signal and battery power are and clicking on the menu bar every few minutes is getting a little annoying. Still love the program a lot thought. It would sorta be like a second airport signal thing/widget.

This is very cool, worked great on my T68i. Address Book's Caller ID is broken right now so this has been very handy for me. Suggestions for future versions: would like to be able to change the icon's position in the toolbar by Apple-dragging (like the other menulings).. as it is, its stuck on the far-left; possibly show the Address Book pic associated with that person who's calling in the notification?; maybe an option for a bezel-style display, like the Brightness/Volume controls? Thanks for the great work...
