I'm sort of a screensaver junky. I love interesting, esthetically appealing screensavers. While I wasn't particularly taken with Holding Pattern Coach Class, I decided to check out the First Class version. There's no trial download available but there is a preview available at the developer's website. First Class costs $17.50, which is awfully steep for a screen saver. No screensaver is worth more than $10 IMHO. First Class has views off the western US, Hawaii, Clouds over the Pacific, with a view near Mexico City being the only one outside the States. Well, how about some views over other parts of the world such as India, the Himalayas, China, Tibet, Europe, South America, i.e. Peru, Brazil, the Amazon; it's a big world out there with lots of places to choose from. Anyway, there are no shortage of free, inspired, dynamic screensavers...... Electric Sheep, Skyrocket, Lattice, Pixelcity, Fracture, Hyperspace, Helios, Flocks, Neko, Plasma Tunnel, Euphoria.

Inspecting the package contents reveals that it's a bunch of .swf (Flash movie) files. Ugh, no thanks!

Macupdate says version 3.8 dated 2/9/17, but the download link gets version 2, dated 2009, which is identical to what downloads from the developer's own website.

I am one of those travelers who is mesmerized by the view from a plane window. I find the engine sound relaxing and reassuring. So, when offered this screensaver, I HAD to try it. This screensaver is not only functional and ornamental, it's entertaining. GORGEOUS views of different areas of the world, beautiful photography, realistic plane noises. My only problem is that it's so engrossing and relaxing, I have to resist the temptation to zone. I enjoyed Coach Class SO much that I bought First Class, and I use it all the time. I will be following upgrades to First Class, and any other cinematic screensavers that Idle Time may produce. Thanks!

Very, very nice. Take a lot of processor energy, even with all of the options set at their least intensive, but still worth seeing. My one gripe is that HP saves a preference file (hp2whichscene.txt) to the user's HOME folder. Not sure how that file ranks at the same level as the Desktop, Documents, Library, and other folders... I'm hoping that in future versions that file is moved to the Library/Application Support folder, where it belongs.

Great screensaver. I prefer to keep the old version though 'cause this new version is a downgraded version of Holding Pattern 1 and is actually not as good.

This software is truly amazing and relaxing to watch. It reminds me of my first airplane trip to California when I was 6. I sat and stared out the window the entire time. This saver recreates those awesome views and moving clouds without the stress and annoyances that go along with plane travel. The developers are extremely open to new ideas, and the software has been rock solid on both intel and ppc computers. To truly enjoy this saver to it's fullest, run it on a machine with 2 large monitors. People will literally stop by your cube and stare at the screen mesmerized. The saver also runs extremely well as a desktop background (using xback or other software). I highly recommend this software and hope it continues to be developed down the road with new scenes and options. (cockpit view?)

Nice screen saver! Very creative idea. I only wish the pictures used were a big higher res -- When sitting in front of my cinema display, they're a little jaggy :( Fantastic otherwise, would recommend!

Looks cool and has different locations/windows, but I will have to get a new computer for it to work well (400mhz G3 is a little old) :)

The installer also puts something called "stemp2" in your /Users/username/Library/Preferences/ByHost/ directory. I also see sed, mv and chmod commands logged in my console.log. What's going on here? Why not just give the user a .saver file and tell them where to copy it? Very strange.

Wow... this is really neat. BTW, it's running okay on my B&W 350MHz. Though on a faster machine I'm sure it sings.

This is not a screensaver. This is a revolution on the silent screen.
