What’s new in version 4.3.3

Updated on Apr 21 2014

Version 4.3.3:
plone.recipe.alltests: 1.2 -> 1.4
  • Flush stdout after printing status before and after running tests.
  • Added exclude-groups and include-groups so entire package groups can be easily included or excluded from the test run.
  • Added the default-policy setting which makes it possible to exclude packages by default, unless explicitly listed in include.
  • Make it possible to run a single test group by specifying the --group= option. This can aid with debugging test isolation problems.

and one more time: that's for posting a software here that has nothing to do with the Mac operating system! And by the way, if you want to be a grown up web developer you use ExpressionEngine!

Install will fail with 'permission denied' unless you login with the admin account on your mac and install plone with full permissions to the Applications folder.

_Do not use Plone_!! It will destroy your Applications!! Just today, I downloaded and tried to install Plone. I Did the standard install and it failed with an error, it said. As a result, it wiped out 99% of my Applications in the Applications folder and 99% in the Utilities folder - 45 GB worth!! Thank God for backups! So far it doesn't appear to have touched any other data, just that in the Applications folder.

I agree with Shock J. There are many better content management systems out there. This one has its strengths as a back-end for a big company, a back-end (e.g. document library) that will never be seen by the public. It has a huge learning curve and is a bear to customize visually -- almost "fuggehtahboudit!" And it is *very* hard to find a reliable host who can handle Plone, and Plone's needs for very specific versions of Zope, etc.

Straight out of the box, Plone's default settings are way to restrictive. You have to do some serious customizing to make it useful. Problem with that is that the UI is not intuitive. This CM has a very steep learning curve. The Zope database has more negatives than positives. I would stay away from this. My company is migrating to Drupal.

I completely disagree with the previous reviews. I've had to work with Plone a few times now and I can say I hope I never get another Plone development project. If you have use for Plone "as-is -- out of the box", then it's a fine product. But, like most people, you need to customize it to match your brand, change the look, or any other customization, it stinks.

Great program, installer was smooth -- You get an A+ for the meaning, and an A++ for building a fully tableless accessible site:)
