CocoaJT is a Mac OS X Cocoa application based on the WebKit Framework. It provides easy access to TV and radio streams from different countries, features a way back machine to see what happen since 2002 with easy access to broadcast archives, and a stream recorder to dump all Real/Windows Media streams to your hard drive (courtesy of MPlayer).

This is an amazing program. I just saved a straeming .mms video file to my hard disk.
This is the only Mac program I could find that can do such a thing!
I hope it will continue to be supported as it is well needed!

Just downloaded and tried this, so far so good, excellent idea and a nice simple interface, and the video quality is very good.
I'd just love to have a way of importing a list of streams especially for radio, there are so many from the BBC and they're not in the defaults, I can add them as favorites but being able to import a big list would be a lot more practical.
Hi, very recently my Cocoa JT stopped working on downloading video from Les Guignols (my favorite French TV program). Not only does the video not download, but the program freezes and I can not even quit the program. I must do a force quit. I am running OS X 10.4.7 with the latest Cocoa 5.2.2. Can anyone help? I miss my Guignols!!
Same problem - as encountered by sepasmp (one post below). I have been recording the same radio stream for months, then on the 5th of August (4 days ago) the program stopped recording it. It immediately shows "completed" message, but doesn't create any file on HD.
The address of the radio broadcast has not changed. I can still listen to the same "mms://..." through Windows Media player, just can't record it through CocoaJT any more (but other streams still work fine). I didn't install any OS updates, or anything else that could mess things up.
Can anyone offer their opinion as to why this is happening? Thanks
The channels are working quite well but I can't save any stream on my HD. It says that the download is completed but if you check clicking on the lens ..nothing is found!
How to solve this?
Tnx
P.S. I am using a G4 1GHz OSX 10.3.9.
That guy is excellent. I sent him my crashlog yesterday and he releases a new version today !!
Bug fixed !
This is a very good App and developper is very serious and reactive.
Just installed the new beta on 2 different macs at 2 different locations (home and work). Installation went fine. No problems connecting to the TV channels and radios I tried so far. As we use Airport at work, loading time was considerably higher than at home (about 30 seconds vs less than 10 for Le Journal de France 2 and Les Guignols) but you can't blame the app for that.
Thanks for a great program.
I downloaded recently on my Christmas-iBook G4.
But many links remain dead,... as I am unable to select year 2005 in the calendar !!!
Y2K+5 BUG ???
Has some one found a workaround ???
1/ I had problem unpacking the file. I realized that I needed the last version of StuffIt Expander (v. 9.0.1). It went then OK.
2/ The sole radio I could load was Europe 1, and the sole TV channel was BBC International.
The other links were dead.
I just downloaded CocoaJT 4.0 and RealOne Player. I could not let work nor the radio nor the TV. I'm running a iMac/1 GHz with plenty of RAM. Apparently I am the only one having troubles.
much better than the other app that does exactly the same thing - unfortunately crippled by the RealPlayer implementation... If only we could get QuickTime feeds instead, then it would be perfect.
But I doubt the developer has anything to do with the broadcast format so I'm not holding my breath... ;)
Great job!
This a very very good little app.
I'm french and live in another country. CocoaJT is THE thing I was looking for. It's much easier than going to the channels websites. You have them all (nearly) in one little app.!!
Maybe next version could have the regional channels of France3 (I'm breton and miss my land!)
Keep the good job going!
Bravo et merci!
felicitations! Congratulations !
works great and introduces a new functionality into e-media. easy of use and interface are all flawless.

PS now if only someone would do the same for dutch tv stations ! VRT/VTM/Holland TV etc.
the more variety, the more angles, the more we can become independent thinkers, free of the CNN/US brainwash
I don't think this has anything to do with Real or Quicktime being better or not; its just that the tv channel companies have decided to publish their programs using a format which only realplayer can decode. As a matter of fact, quicktime provides better quality for the same rate.
Really GREAT GREAT GREAT, Five mouses for the genious developper. The streaming with Adsl 512K is fantastic. Realplayer give us good result, why Quicktime can't Mister Steeve JOB ? is there any solutions ? Macuser-Macaddict since '86.
Thanks for all.
