Renames files, many features.

Overview

FileNamer is a very feature rich renamer and more than that, it organizes your files too. Here's some of the features: 16 different filters for selecting files, among them: content, date, file type and creator, length, IPTC, mp3 tags and so on. Unlimited number of actions in an action set. 21 renaming actions, among them mp3-tags, image info (IPTC), regex, standard search & replace, date, time, part of old file name, text file with file names, case and much more. 5 file actions: move, copy, organize after renaming, save new file names to file, delete all filtered files. Hot folders, use any settings file created with FileNamer to automatically rename files and move them. Preview Quicktime compatible pictures and pdf's, text files and clippings. Option to rename directly in the file window. Undo for renaming actions.

This is a pretty nifty little app. I think adding regular expression support would make this application incredibly useful.

Search for R-Name for a free app that is very powerful and easy to use that does this same thing.

I'm using R-Name, but it has two annoying traits -- it won't remember the window position, and it's kinda slow. The price is right, though I wish there was an OS X equivalent to Drop*Rename in OS 8/9.

Brainfade -- the quirks I was thinking about are in FileInfo, a Type/Creator changer, not R-Name. But I'd still like something more like Drop*Rename to rename files.

Somewhat complicated user interface, but the only GUI tool I've found that can actually do regular expression searches with parenthetical match replacement. Only way if I have files like: 1_large.jpg 1_med.jpg 2_large.jpg etc. and want to change them to: L_1.jpg M_1.jpg L_2.jpg Thanks!

An extremely useful and handy application. However, the user needs to be able to make the window wider to see the whole filename. Also in the next update, how about adding a feature that will allow a folder to be renamed based on the filename of its contents.
