Remote file server mounter/reconnector.

Overview

Reconnector X is a remote file system mounter that connects automatically to the correct file server and mounts the chosen volumes at startup. It also reconnects to mounted systems that randomly disconnect and disappear.

What's new in Reconnector X

Version 2.9.1:
  • Reconnector will now delete any file, folder or alias in /Volumes/ which have the same name as the volume tht is being mounted. This is done to avoid a problem that can occure where the mounted volumes Posix-name might be wrong.

I can't seem to get Reconnector 2.1 (on Mac OS 9.2.2) to automount my Xserve 10.2.6. I get a crash with "Error Type 2" consistently. Anyone able to make this work?

Tom has contacted us regarding this issue and we have sent him an update that might solve his problem. We will of course post information regarding this problem as soon as we have more details and feedback from Tom.

nice and clean app, a bit expensive but still worth the dough. A must have though I think it lacks a bar graph covering fre mem on mounted volumes.

A very good idea! We'll try to implement a simple way of seeing space left on volumes. We will also add "mail notification if a volume has too little free space".

Great product! Love the amount/remount network volumes. Also the feature of keeping applications up and running is invaluable to workflows. Also nice since it allows me to use different profiles like "home", "work" etc, allowing me to use different sets of automounted volumes. Great Product!

You obviously haven't tried the product nor read the manual. Yes applescript mounts volumes but not as fast, as accurate nor does applescript discover volumes that disconnects (for whatever reason) in the same fancy way that reconnector does. Also you seems to have missed the nice feature of starting up applications and also restart applications that crash/shut down for some reason. And at last you definitely have missed the graet feature of having different profiles, letting you have a few volumes automaounted at work and (for example) swiych to the home profile when at home. This is a great product well worth trying. But as alway, RTFM before complaining.

I have used the mount volume in many AppleScript solutions, and it is NOT reliable. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Reconenctor seems to be a good solution for the auto-reconnect and auto-mount problem - for both OS 9 and X.
