Interesting to see that version 3 is now available in the App store. Bought a copy of Heredis Mac X.2 in 2006 for $69 Version 2 arrived June 2012, special price $59 Version 2.2 arrived in the AppStore July 2013 $10 (iirc) Now Heredis 2014 (version 3) for $30 (50% off they say). Mmm. Shall I upgrade or not? I'm rather fed up with having to keep paying for it:-(

No upgrade pricing. You have to pay full price every time they release a new version. Never again!

So far so good! Really nice that the iPhone app (which syncs) is free, and the Mac version has a demo, so I can test everything out before buying. What I like so far about Heredis, and what makes it probably the best solution for my anthropological/ethnographic research, is that it makes it easy to create what it calls "sundry links" between any two people, regardless of their biological relationship. This is essential for the incorporation of ethnographic data from non-Western societies, and I didn't find an easy way to do it in the two main competing products.

I have been satisfied with Heredis for years. Recently I decided to upgrade, but Digibuy does not recognise my input code (although they have my receipt details) and want to charge me VAT, although I live in a non-VAT area of Europe. Their replies are useless. apad

Love this program. I use it everyday and have been usuing Heredis for almost 2 years. It's the best Mac Geneology program out there, by a long shot! (I've tried almost all of the others). Its easy to use, graphically pleasing and fast. The only thing that I don't like is its occasional tendancy to crash when it encounters conflicting instructions. It's easy to predict when this will happen so I can save before it quits. Other than that, its perfect. The CD / Webpages it creates are awesome!

After playing with the demo for a few hours, I have found this to be the best and easiest to use Mac genealogy freeware/shareware app for me. Entering in common information (children, spouses, parents, birth and death dates) is quick and painless. I will probably purchase the software as soon as I can get the webstore to realize Safari does accept cookies. :-)

Heredis may look great but don’t waste your money on it. At least not until they fix the software. After entering four places, with their add feature, the program crashes. You can re-start and it will crash after every new entry. I’ve tried starting new files, importing a file, and a completely new install, nothing works. As of yet I’ve gotten no response from their support people.

Anyone here used this before? I'm wondering if its worth the $40 price disparity between the platform versions...!
