3 or 4 years ago I thought the OpenGL interface was kind of cool, now it just looks tacky to the max!  The solitaire on Windows 7 actually looks much nicer in my opinion and has a nicer layout that is easier to play than this game.  The background animations were always hideous overkill. You can't argue that the sheer number of solitaire variants is impressive and based on what the developer wrote here I'm sure they're all well researched and implemented.  I think the asking price is fair for this many unique games but unless the user interface gets a major overhaul and refresh then I can't see myself playing it any more, even though I bought a license.  I'll try to find another nicer looking and more civilised Mac solitaire app. We're well past the stage of being impressed by 3D for the sake of it!  And it's not a bad thing to read Apple's user interface guidelines either.  3D and animations can be used if they provide valuable visual cues but I can't see why a card game needs to be entirely 3D.  Maybe consider replacing OpenGL with (limited) core animation for an updated look and feel and breath fresh life into a dying Mac app.

Cooks my CPU. If I want to hear my fan all I have to do is launch this app. Other than that, it's a good implementation of solitaire. Controls are quick and responsive and the graphics are fluid and sharp. I have several solitaire games but this is the one that I always end up playing - even if it does burn a hole through my laptop.

The outstanding Solavant offers 240 solitaire games and a 100 game trial period with absolutely no time limit whatsoever. No easy games, no hints either....it's for the real solitaire aficionado. Really worth checking out.

This game suffers in relation to Solitare Til Dawn. Its interface does not follow Apple Interface guidelines. It does not allow some legal moves. And the trial restrictions are such that no one can complete a single game. The basic 3D interface is fine, but the animations seem to be a little over the top, if you are going to be playing for more than 10 min. This game does have promise, if the developer would actually take the user's suggestions to heart and make the changes. I sense the developer really wants to improve the game, unfortunately, so far the change log indicates too little to improve the mac user experience. This game could be so much better without that much more work, and I encourge the developer to do so, because he is leaving money on the table as it is now.

I agree with a couple of posters below - the time limitations on the demo are ridiculous. (As far as I'm concerned, any program that puts such limitations on a user is a demo program NOT shareware). It looks like a nice program, but it won't even allow me to play one full game.

This is the best solitaire game. Awesome graphics and card animation, huge selection of games, thorough options. And the developer is very responsive. Truly great!

Actually, it's the only Solitaire game I play... As a side note, the requirements state a minimum of 16MB video RAM, but it DOES work fine on ATi Rage 128 cards with a measly 8MB.

First of all the pirce is ridiculous. $25 for a Solitaire game? I don't think so! Second, the time limit is annoying. It should have been set to five minutes or a 7 day trial and then the game is unaccesible. Other then that the game is okay but it isn't worth it.

I tried it, yeah it's a purdy one alrighty, but unMac-like. Who cares about the international market anyway? People who want to pay to play solitaire will find this 3D game a bit over the top. Mac users like their dang menu bar where it belongs, not as some graphical/multinational/concept program. And as for the marketing to an international audience...if this is true as the developer's site claims, then why is the web site in English? I found the animations quite charming at first and anoying very quickly. Nice effort by the programmers...

Just a comment -- I did pay for Solitaire Till Dawn, and recommend it; it is a better program than Solitaire Forever.

"Solitaire" card games are not that difficult. Therefore the bar is set somewhat higher, particularly for one that you have to pay for. Solitaire Forever falls far, far short of this bar. 1) as a previous poster mentioned, the menu bar. It's nonexistant. Some preferences, Game-New Game, ANYTHING would have been nice. 2) There are bugs. No less than 3 times in the game I played (normal Klondike), there were perfectly legal moves that it would not let me do, 2 of which may have salvaged the game. ITS NOT THAT HARD. Spend less time making fancy 3D Graphics and FIX THE GAME FIRST. Get the source code to a game that works. SOMETHING. 3) It costs money. I would be surprised if anyone is willing to pay $25 for solitaire, even with pretty graphics. Positives about this game? It's pretty. And....that's about it.

Very high Quality game One way to improve this would be a proper mac menu bar and preferences window as well as more options for card/background colours.

Starting with a gorgeously animated five-star 3-D window, this is the best that I have ever seen --Highly Recommended!
