Brings Smart Groups to the Apple Address Book.

Overview

SmartBook brings Smart Groups to the Apple Address Book. Smart Groups are to the Address Book what Smart Playlists are to iTunes. They allow you to have groups that update automatically according to a set of rules you can setup with SmartBook.

What's new in SmartBook

Version 1.0.2:
  • Added ability to not show the Agent in the menu bar.
  • Improved agent starting/stopping.
  • In the rules editor: renamed the 'matches' field to 'starts with' which reflects more appropriately the functionality.
  • Added italian localization (more localized versions will soon be available via Check for Updates).
  • Corrected a few minor issues.

Stunningly great concept that can save hours of time creating custom lists. SmartBook uses the same rules interface as the Apple Mail app -- so its easy, fast, and extremely configurable. Create new lists easily for customized mailings, company sublists, etc. SmartBook is the kind of elegant utility that helps Macs rule -- and PC users drool.

Nice, but USELESS now with AdressBook' s new version (4.0.3). It's include, like in many others iApps. Thanks Tiger!

VERY impressive program -- valuable concept, good execution. Integrates extremely well with Address Book. One annoyance: it insists on placing a new menu item among the (already crowded) right side of my menubar, along with AirPort status and the Script Menu and Meteorologist and PTHPasteboard and a bunch of other items. There _really_ needs to be a preference to prevent that menu from displaying. (Heck, sometimes it displays two copies of that menu item -- I don't even want one!)

Feedback taken, I will add an option to do this (or rather, to not have the item ;). Note: if you want your feedback to be taken into account faster, please send comments to info@pommsoft.com, thanks.

Thanks so much! Note to others following this thread: I think it took the developer less than an hour to reply to this comment. Now, that's responsiveness!

Ok, this is now fixed in version 1.0.2 (in the preferences you can choose whether to display the menu bar item).
