This program does what it's supposed to do, but it's extremely unstable, and there's a bug or two in it. But then again, it's only a test. The worst bug that I have noticed is that when in the ringtone section, 99% of the time you can't see the list of ringtones. And because of that it's almost impossible to select a file from the list. Note to developer: Keep up the good work! This is the only program out there (other than the one that comes in the $80 Verizon kit) that works with the VX6000. And it works on a Mac! Make it stable and and fix the bugs, and I'd gladly cough up a couple bucks for it.

Very cool application. The interface is funky and in some places it doesn't behave like a native mac application, but it doesn't matter for this app as it works perfectly. I have never had it crash once for me, and it works exactly as expected functionality wise. I highly recommed it.

Good program that has seen a lot of progress since earlier versions. Seems to work alright with my Samsung SCH-a930 when it doesn't crash...you can always tell its going to because a file window will end up tinted blue beforehand. Any chance of an Intel compiled version so it doesn't have to be run under rosetta? I am hoping that it what is causing the problem.

What we have here is the best option to the non-paying crowd. This app works very well with most of the recent LG phones, with many of the samsung ones and is relatively easy to navigate. My main hint for people is to make sure they get the correct cable and INSTALL THE DRIVERS. It took me 2 weeks to understand this second one. If you are not patient, do not download this. Exactly what the settings are for your setup is going to take time and possibly a bit of frustration, but once you figure out your phone's tricks, it can be a cakewalk. All that is truly lacking is major documentation for each phone set (yah, right.) and sync of movies. some ability to interface with all of the iLife package would be nice, but development wise, a pain.

Nevermind not working since the 10.3.9 upgrade... the problem was actually my usb flash drive: bitpim wouldn't download when the flashdrive was mounted. So 0.7.30 works with OS10.3.9 but features are limited with my particular phone (samsung A670). I can download wallpapers (and photos), contacts, and sms messages. Bitpim will not download "ringers" and it can't upload anything to the phone (making backing up the phonebook somewhat pointless for now). Also, bitpim frequently reports that it "can't seek on file descriptor 17, large files support is not enabled. (error 0; Unknown error: 0)" Works for getting my pictures off the phone although it takes quite a while. I look forward to the possibility of additional functionality in future releases.

Works with LG VX6100, though it's VERY slow to transfer pictures. Also very, very slow response when shift-selecting multiple pictures. This on a 1 GHz G4 with 1.25 GB of RAM. Uploaded a midi ringtone (extension must be .mid) whic worked perfectly on the phone. Speed improvement is the only negative I can give so far.

Several Verizon employees have denied straight to my face the existence of a method to download pictures from the Samsung SCH-A670. Well of course the company would have this denial policy, otherwise how would they steal your mony at 25 cents a picture to email them of the phone. Well long story short this is a great application lacking only a method to download videos as far as I can tell. Of course the program is free so who's complaining.

Fantastic! Works great with my 6000. I'm upgrading to a treo soon and I was worried I'd have to manually enter all my contacts, this app exported them all as vcards perfectly!

I recently purchased a LGVX7000 and BitPim v7.22 has worked perfectly. Yes I could ask for more (better interface, better synchronization: no option to sync, only replace or add, renaming doesn't really work), but this is free and works for Macs. I have never had a crash and I think any eBay cable works (but don't take my word for it, I got mine from summitImage). Keep up the good work. To thos that own an LG phone read the tutorials on these forums: http://cellphoneforums.net and http://www.howardforums.net to change the banner and upload correct dimension images onto your phone along with mp3 ringtones (yes VX7k supports MP3s!)

I had installed an earlier version on my Pismo and it was unable to "see" my LG VX 7K. This version works with all features enabled. It's too bad that Apple choses to support phones that run Windows (Moto) yet a phone that supports QuickTime native is ignored by iSync. So it's nice that an indepent developer allows you to interface with what is IMHO one of the best phones out there. The only feature that I could ask for is a direct interface with Address book.

Recently installed Bitpim 0.7 on Powerbook Pismo (firewire) running 10.3.5. Cannot get it to recognize my phone (Samsung A-670) or even the port that it's on, even though I installed the python serial drivers... will keep on hacking it till it works.

Using BitPin 0.7-test 9 on 10.3.3 I cannot transfer data from an LG-VX6000. The application indicates busy, and then throws a long error message. The same version does work on XP, and on XP I see a third Diagnostic interface on the phone that I do not see on the Mac.

I am a Panther user, and after half a day of reading postings and downloading and re-downloading and investigating and researching, I still cannot get Bitpim to launch. I have the right cable and the right driver for my vx4400, but I double-click the 0.7-Test5 Bitpim icon and NOTHING happens. Nothing launches, nothing starts. The 13.9MB flower expands as if it's starting and then just sits there mocking me. Anybody have ideas, because I'm fresh out? My operating system is clean and intact and all up-to-date. What is the secret to this program??!!

Ditto on above comments regarding stability. But even so, this program is a godsend for us Mac users! Using the previous version "0.7-test1" (you gotta dig around for it), I was able to backup and modify the file system on my LG VX-10 phone. I'm using an eMac running 10.3. BitPim quit on me once, and it generally doesn't properly handshake with the VX-10 the first time you try (they removed support for this phone in later versions - no wonder), but with a little care, I'm able to archive, delete and install games and ringers. WooHoo!
