The "hidden" .Trash folder actually is the trash, if you were to look at it from the Terminal. When you empty the trash, you'll find that anything that was showing up in .Trash will be gone -- unless you got a message it it couldn't delete it because it was in use for whatever reason.

On an external drive or a DMG it's a little different, but that' probably not relevant here.

Very cool application. The interface is funky and in some places it doesn't behave like a native mac application, but it doesn't matter for this app as it works perfectly. I have never had it crash once for me, and it works exactly as expected functionality wise.

I highly recommed it.

Good program that has seen a lot of progress since earlier versions. Seems to work alright with my Samsung SCH-a930 when it doesn't crash...you can always tell its going to because a file window will end up tinted blue beforehand. Any chance of an Intel compiled version so it doesn't have to be run under rosetta? I am hoping that it what is causing the problem.

Yup... Intel is under Rosetta is unstable as it can get. My buddy just bought a new LG phone and we checked it out on his PPC machine along with my phone from Samsung. On the PPC G4 they worked almost perfectly, importing / exporting contacts, adding wall papers (though the cropping tool is unstable there as well), editing and copying ring tones, etc. On Intel I was barely able to browse the filesystem and half the time the program would crash on load.

A really great tool on PowerPC Macs though.

How did you establish communication? I have a Samsung SCH-a930 too, but every time I try to download from the phone, I get a series of error messages in the log:

I believe I told it that I was using the A950...I read somewhere that was the best way to do it. I will try again with this new version and see if it behaves better under Rosetta.

(BTW BitPim works great with Windows running on Parallels with my Mac... until there is a Mac intel native version that is the most likely way I will keep using it.)

Nevermind not working since the 10.3.9 upgrade... the problem was actually my usb flash drive: bitpim wouldn't download when the flashdrive was mounted.

So 0.7.30 works with OS10.3.9 but features are limited with my particular phone (samsung A670). I can download wallpapers (and photos), contacts, and sms messages. Bitpim will not download "ringers" and it can't upload anything to the phone (making backing up the phonebook somewhat pointless for now).

Also, bitpim frequently reports that it "can't seek on file descriptor 17, large files support is not enabled. (error 0; Unknown error: 0)"

Works for getting my pictures off the phone although it takes quite a while. I look forward to the possibility of additional functionality in future releases.

Works with LG VX6100, though it's VERY slow to transfer pictures. Also very, very slow response when shift-selecting multiple pictures. This on a 1 GHz G4 with 1.25 GB of RAM.

Uploaded a midi ringtone (extension must be .mid) whic worked perfectly on the phone.

Speed improvement is the only negative I can give so far.

I use the same phone, and I've not noticed any slowness when uploading or downloading images or ringtones. (Not in any of the version of BitPim that I've used over the past several months.)

What data cable were you using? I see that Radio Shack sells a USB data cable for the VX 6100 (which I have also).

Thanks

Several Verizon employees have denied straight to my face the existence of a method to download pictures from the Samsung SCH-A670. Well of course the company would have this denial policy, otherwise how would they steal your mony at 25 cents a picture to email them of the phone. Well long story short this is a great application lacking only a method to download videos as far as I can tell. Of course the program is free so who's complaining.

There are two distinctions made between versions of BitPim 1.06 for the Mac -- PPC vs. Intel, and Tiger vs. Leopard.

I run an Intel/Tiger combination on my Mac (MacBook and 10.4.11), and I got the same error, which I think happens b/c the Intel build is actually not for all Intel machines, but for Intel/Leopard only. It seems to be fixed when I use the PPC/Tiger version instead. (I say 'seems to' because I don't get the sqlite error and it runs, presumably in emulation mode, but I haven't yet fully tested it for later bugs.)

Tiger version is here:

I'm not convinced there _is_ an Intel version, which is to say that what is called the Intel version may in fact just be for Intel Macs running Leopard.

states:

LEOPARD-bitpim-1.0.6.i386.dmg

so the Intel version is for 10.5

and the requirements on the MacUpdate page for BitPim:

Mac OS X 10.5 or later

Thanks for the replies! The downloads I used were the PPC versions. I have of course downloaded the latest "TIGER-bitpim-1.0.6.ppc.dmg" but it won't work either. (but It does Launch) I'm Using "/dev/cu.BT-LGVX8560" for the port w/ the new LG Chocolate. Also tried using the USB. I can't read the filesystem, & when I try to get wallpapers or anything from the phone I get a bunch of errors.(see below) Please know that I LOVE this app & I'm not complaining...(The price is right & Thank-You) I miss being able to use it & I'm sure others who may be having the same problems do to. Apple's "Bluetooth File Exchange" works great for transferring music, pictures & sounds BUT can't backup the phone's entire filesystem or do all BitPim can. Also, phone detection @ startup fails? Says No phone detected/recognized.
run Settings?

Thank-You Everyone!

I did that, but as a precaution, as always, I did an Easy Find search and there's about a dozen "hidden" files and when I tried to trash them they're suddenly in a "hidden trash" folder and I can't get rid of them.
