Mac Flight Planner

1.2.5
12 July 2004

Flight planning application for real aviation.

Overview

Mac Flight Planner is the first, and at the time of writing the only, flight planning application aimed at real aviation. If you are looking for a flight planner for X-Plane then try Goodway or PATHy. They are both well supported. However if you are a pilot in the real world then you will probably find Mac Flight Planner much more useful as you aren't bound to the X-Plane database of waypoints which is very comprehensive but not accurate enough for real flight in all parts of the world (I'm sure Austin couldn't guarantee that they are accurate enough for real flight in any part of the world). MFP now also features a database utility for importing and exporting waypoints.

What's new in Mac Flight Planner

Version 1.2.5:
  • Improved ability to detect and handle invalid database and plan files
  • Added ability to launch Database Utility
  • Fixed a bug that allowed out of range headings (outside 0 to 360) to appear in a plan

Very useful app! The interface is very clean, and it is very functional. I am an X-Plane user too.

Where is the function for importing waypoints? It is a hard job to manuallly enter about 3500 waypoints

You're right. I'm currently working on a database utility that will allow import and export. Please send me a sample of the file format you're wanting to import so I can make sure it's supported.
