Calculates UNIX numeric permissions for files.

Overview

getPermission is a straightforward Application which calculates UNIX numeric permissions for files. If you regularly use the chmod utility and wish to change file permissions to something new and don't know the calculation offhand, then this is the tool for you!

This app serves no useful purpose. The chmod tool already supports a symbolic mode for permissions, so for user, group, other (ugo) you can easily set read, write, execute (rwx) and a number of other modes by entering things in terminal like: $ chmod ug+x foo.pl You can enter the numbers if you wish, but the letters are simple to remember and you don't have to launch a GUI app to work thing out.

Phooey on the below review. It's true that UNIX supports changing permissions like this, but the chmod() function in the PHP programming language does not; you have to use a number. Therefore, this program was quite helpful. It'd be cool if it could work the other way too; you tell it a number (like 644) and it displays what that number means.
