SLEEP MODE IS NOT SUPPORTED !!!
    -------------
I did a google reSearch for the kind of trouble/problems I had.

    conclusion:
I will not try again to install it under Mac OS X 10.5.x with my ATi Radeon 9800 PRO in my PM G5 Dual 2 GHz.

read on about some really weird stuff at Apple Support Discussions:
    M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496 Driver ...

    -------------

Now, I know why M-Audio drivers have a very bad reputation.
It is just plain rubbish trash!!!

Nice Card but I don't like the fact that it supports no deep sleep.
So either my Mac is turned on all the time or I have to shut it down.

If I forget and walk away (and my Mac wants to go in Standby) I will have to force shut down my Mac.

I have the M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496 PCI Card.
My Mac is a PowerMac G5 Dual 2GHz with 8 GB of RAM.

I tested this driver under Mac OS X 10.5.5

    Quote from M-Audio Forum:
    -------------------------
There is one issue ... Sleep Mode. The QS did so very well before installing the Audiophile 2496.
    Now I get this:

    Mar 29 14:01:04 Moonstone-Art-Studio kernel[0]: PCI sleep prevented by non-power-managed pci1412,d634 (1)

Is this a known non-option of the 2496? Does not support Deep Sleep?

The monitor goes to Sleep ...

    Sleep mode is not supported

Absolutely THE worst drivers I've ever used. Through Mac OS 9.1 to 10.4.8 these drivers have been absolutely awful. If you like damaging your disk directory by being forced to restart every half hour while trying to work due to kernel panics (literally!) then buy one of M-Audio's crappy products so you can use this POS "software."

Selling this sharty card on eBay and uninstalling the drivers. Just bought a Motu solution. Good riddance.

    F&#@ing crap.

Great Value - especially for small home studios.
Sadly - the drivers are completely rubbish, so I waste large amounts of time reinstalling drivers and repairing permissions.

This update is a joke, right? It claims to be 1.1.6, but if you look at the actual driver versions, you find that it is actually 1.1.4, which doesn't have G5 support and crashes constantly.

So am I to understand that nobody at M-Audio has noticed this in almost a year!?! And I thought -I- was bad at versioning!

BTW, thanks for the tip about 1.1.7 from their German site. It looks like I can stop disabling one CPU on my G5 now! It's actually working correctly with audio apps again!

Ever since OS 10.3.3 came out this driver causes my computer to crash constantly. Extremely frustrating that no updates have been released in a long time. Also, I've used five versions of this software for both OS X and 9 and for some reason I still have to redo my settings everytime I restart the computer. I shouldn't have to import my settings from a text file just for sound. Ridiculous. Why does it seem like all music software, whether it's drivers or sequencing/multi-tracking software, has to be so expensive, proprietary, and unstable. I paid a lot of money over the years for music hardware/software and most all of it sucks ass - big time. I'm trying to get work done here, for Christ's sake. I think I'm starting to miss analogue.

I experienced the same problems with the syslog flooding. In my search for a solution I came across the german m-audio site and checked out their Downloads page.
There I found a version 1.1.7 of the driver for OS X. Here's a link to the .sit:

    http://www.midiman.de/files/OSX_Delta_PCI_117.sit

There is no more syslog flooding.
Seems like the control panel still is in English so I guess there should be no problems for non-German speakers...
I haven't had time to test them thoroughly, but it seems like my problem with audio stuttering while MIDI activity is still there. I will look into that later.

audio stuttering while MIDI activity using Audiophile 2496.

I am having a problem with Audio corruption during capture while sending out MIDI. Do I need a second MIDI device that runs independently?

I've been generally pleased with the 2496, I use it with Cubase SX 1.06 and Panther 10.3.1. I have had a few minor problems in the past but none as severe as the other posters. Using it on a G4 466.

This driver has the modification date from somewhere in September. The driver was released earlier and after installing it flooded my syslog. I informed m-Audio and all they did is rerelease the same driver with the same build number 2 month later without fixing it?
