CPU Speed Accelerator overview

CPU Speed Accelerator will help you increase the power of your Ma, at very low cost. You want to increase by 20% to 30% the speed of your applications without spending money in new hardware? You want to automatically always make the most of the power of your CPU to the foreground application you are using?

CPU Speed Accelerator allows you to drastically increase the CPU allocated to your foreground applications to make the most of the power of your Mac.

  • It can increase by up to 30% the power of your Mac.
  • It automatically detects the foreground application you are using.
  • It redirects unused processing power of your CPU to the foreground application.
  • You can set the percentage of acceleration between 0% and 100%.
  • It tells the Process Manager of the UNIX layer of Mac OS X to always assign the maximum priority to the foreground application.
  • It appears in the right side of the menu bar.
  • It doesn't need any installation which makes it very easy to use.
  • It is absolutely not harmful at all for you Mac and your Applications, since it does not modify anything on your Mac but just optimizes its processing power, only when the application is running.
  • It is available in Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Traditional Chinese, Turkish and many other languages.

As others have noted below, the name of this app is a very deceptive -- and no doubt intentional -- misnomer. The fact is that no app can really speed up your computer's processors any faster than they were designed to function by their manufacturer. Let's not confuse renicing -- prioritizing CPU processing power on one particular app -- with really speeding up your machine. $40.00 for this deceptive nonsense? I think not!

If the object of the exercise is to maximize the developer's income, then I strongly suspect that selling a lot of copies for $00.99 would be a lot more profitable than selling next to no copies for $41.00. You would think that anybody with the brains needed to create software would be able to figure out simple facts of life like that, but there are a handful of developers who entirely fail to Get The Point. That's why some developers will be eating a fine steak tonight while others are down in their parents' basement dining on Alpo.

$40.84 for simply running a Terminal command.... and the developer as the audacity to complain about Apple's fee to sell their app in the Mac App Store! What a joke... also, this does nothing to your CPU. It simply tells OS X which process to give full priority to. OS X already handles this intelligently and automatically for you.

"CPU Speed Accelerator will help you increase the power of your Ma," My Ma doesn't need more power! Seriously though, this does not accelerate the speed of your CPU.

Utter crap from a talentless, greedy, deceitful developer. This does NOT increase your CPU speed, it just gives top priority to whichever app is in the foreground. Snake oil dreck.

This is definitely just a prioritizer but it's also the best one there is. The biggest reason I use it is on my PowerBook G4 which struggles doing the OS X leopard animations such as when using Exposé, this app eliminates those animation stutters. Other than that no it doesn't do much so 40 bucks it IS NOT WORTH IT.
