This is a fabulous game, with all its twists and multiple layers. The game constantly changes as you play it. If you make a decision about which way to go, the game adapts and changes as you make decisions. I played Another Fine Mess first and am now playing A Mess O Trouble. I started AFM without any tips from the creator, Ray Dunakin, but finally paid the $10 shareware fee and got the tips in the mail. I would advise anyone playing the game to pay the shareware fee. You get four full pages of tips and maps and it will save you hours of frustration. Also once you pay the shareware you can e-mail Ray and ask questions and usually he will send back a response within 24 hours. This does not in anyway diminish the adventure of the game, but actually adds to it, since getting stuck in one world or another and not knowing how to get out, can make most people just give up.
The graphics on the game are really amazing for the year it was created. I have been able to play the 1.8 version game using Mac OS 9.1, but you have to give the file extra memory and adjust your extensions to accomodate the program. There are tips on the Ray's Maze page about that.
