Apple Computers has discovered a serious issue with their "Panther" operating system in the operation of FireWire storage products employing the the Oxford 922 FireWire 800 chipset (firmware version 1.02), a problem serious enough that it can result in loss of all data on your FireWire drive.

Anyone using any Oxford based FireWire 800 products - and that includes all products from FirewireDirect - must perform the update described on this page or risk catastrophic loss of data. Please read everything on this page. This is a serious matter.
Requirements
PPC, Mac OS X 10.3 or later, Slimline Ultra III 800, Stingray 800 or Spark 800 firewire drive.

this is Oxford's firmware, not FireWireDirects

you can find the Oxford firmware utility documentation on the Oxford Semiconductor website
