I switched from a PC to a Mac, and the one thing I missed was Paint. The fun little drawing app that I so adored, so I looked around, and this is a great alternative Paint! Has all the basic bitmap drawing/editing features, plus more than Paint! I love it!

The website has apparently moved to http://www.leynos.ukshells.co.uk/software/ I found the program to be oddly slow at running effects. The interface needs alot of work. It hasn't been updated since 2004 though. I doubt they will improve it any time soon.

This is the best thing going for numbnuts like me who want to be able to dive right in and do simple images or edits. I wish the developer would pick it up again or open source it.

For me Teal is a really bad drawing program and lacks usability!

Teal is really coming along - feeling solid and with a growing selection of tools. I think Teal is also the only cocoa bitmap drawing program out that is actually usable for when you need lightweight bitmap drawing.

Reminds me of MacPaint (I think that was the name of the app that came with the original Mac)... Hey, this is a tight little package, free (hope it stays that way)...

Thanks to everyone for the feedback so far. It's been very useful. I'll try to implement as many feature requests as possible. Transparency support is on the agenda. A redesign of the user interface is on the way too. This has partially begun already. Support for TWAIN devices, and graphics tablets will be some time in coming, I'm afraid. This is because I don't have access to the equipment that would be needed to test these. (I will try, though.) HDRI support is also beyond me at present, as it would appear to require access to a scanner and photography equipment. And tbh, I don't think my programming abilities or knowledge of imaging are yet at a stage where I could implement HDRI support in a way that would be useful. There are some bugs that may be specific to Mac OS X 10.3.x. In particular, I've received reports of the menus locking up and a freeze bug in the paste brush. If these are still present in the current release, please let me know by email, together with the circumstances. Later.

I put it through its paces, trying to get it to crash and burn. I failed miserably. Nice program, easy to figure out and use. Guys, this isn't Photoshop. It is good at what it does, and that is fine with me. I think it would be fine for quickly putting ideas down before firing up Photoshop. I did just that. Rated well because it does what it does well.

Gave it a try, not bad, but not good. I worked with it for about 10 minutes and had no problems, but it can't do very much. The interface needs work to make it user friendly, and it needs to be able to create and work with layers.

I have tried it. I hope that you can make some unique stuff for it. Try stuff like Tablet support. HDRI editing, animation, alpha brushes , and just LOTS of new style stuff. We need some good tools , not more of the same .

The menus keep freezing up on me. Otherwise it looks promising.

One weird problem. If you try and quit without saving, it pops up a dialog box asking if you want to save, don't save, or cancel. If you select "don't save", it brings up a save dialog, and if you don't save it doesn't quit. Had to force-quit the beggar.

Hi, I've been unable to replicate this problem under OS 10.2.6. Could you email me with a more detailed description of the circumstances, and which OS version you are using? Thanks.

10.2.8 ... it seems to be fixed in the current version. I've got some suggestions, I'll mail you separately.
