I'm a beginner, so this software was exactly for me) I don't need to learn a lot to make a nice-looking album. I like numerous lovely backgrounds, the jAlbum offers. I can agree with others that the price is reasonable for such a nice app. Will continue to use it with pleasure.

Erm, I just paid $19.99 for a coupon that takes $19.99 off the price on the jAlbum website, so this isn't a discount at all??

Just a quick follow-up note to say this is resolved now. Very pricey software normally, but quite reasonable with the offer.

Nearly perfect applications for posting great-looking photo galleries. Simple, fairly intuitive, and at a nice price.

I was about to purchase the jAlbum software $39, but after giving my credit card info, I was asked the last 6 digits of my social security number for further Visa "verification". I do not give out this information and thus will be looking elsewhere for a commprable software application, as much as I wanted this one. Regrettably a non jAlbum customer

This is nothing we ask for, but perhaps your bank or the payment gateway asks for this in some cases. Anyway, if you feel uneasy about providing such information, try our PayPal payment alternative or wire the funds to our bank account. You can email support@jalbum.net for further assistance.

In times of Apple getting rid of flash isn't it about time for our beloved JAlbum to offer full html5 support ???

jAlbum isn't bound to using Flash. The technology choice is all up to the skin you're using in jAlbum. Use the upcoming "High Five" skin for full HTML5 support!

Still the best of the bunch. A very easy to use web gallery client. I can highly recommend upgrading to the low cost Pro version!

I had been looking for a web gallery app ever since Adobe removed the one they had in Photoshop. This fits the bill, and I can tweak the code in Dreamweaver to remove stuff I don't want, like the link to the developer's site and the skin info. Very nice over all!

I would never have donated to the jAlbum project if I knew the switch to adware was coming. Oh well, time to find a new gallery creator.

Why wasn't the screenshot here updated to show the advertising? I'm not sure if I want to use this anymore with ads but a screenshot would help me decide.

Where's the ads? I don't see any. Or do they sneak up on you after a while?

It says on the web site, in regards to the ad-supported vs. paid version: "Ad free albums Make your portfolio ad free." So, the ads may not be in the app itself, but in the albums and galleries that you create.

@Negritude, Yes, I found that after I tried it out. It's a very simple thing to fix however. Just open the resulting HTML file in a text editor and remove them.

Hi. jAlbum's author here. I guess I should comment on the ads. There is actually no change regarding ads with v10. We've been showing ads together with jAlbum's widget bar earier too. If you really don't want ads and don't want to pay for a Pro License, you also have the option to exclude widgets from your album. I hope you feel jAlbum is still a fair deal with this said.

Thanks for your reply David. Always nice to hear from devs! I think jAlbum's price is more than fair of course. I'm just confused about where the ads are exactly and if I'll have ads in albums that I export. I haven't had time to look into it since posting my initial comment.

I don't know if this site allows me to include links in replies, but here's one sample album that has ads: http://dor.jalbum.net/Widgets/ When clicking the close button on the ad, the ad is gone for 10 minutes

This has been the best album application for many, many years already and it still is. Glad to see that it is still as actively developed as it has always been. And it's still free, too! Everybody who wants to publish pictures on his or her web site or burn them on CD for friends or family should give jAlbum a try. Very likely you won't need nor want to use anything else again. Highly recommended!

I was pretty impressed with this program, as well as with several of the additional skins you can download online. The albums you create are very professional looking for the most part. I would appreciate knowing which skins are entirely free to use, and which require registration (and a fee) to remove a nag message. The only other improvement I can think of is an easy way to remove a skin you've installed once you've decided you no longer want it.

This is a superb application. Within half an hour after downloading I was able to integrate a classy photo gallery with my website. Tremendous value as a free application, but I suggest that you make a donation if it saved you time and aggravation. It was very intuitive to use. The setup for integrating with a website is straight forward, and it functioned, at least for the first time, without hiccups. This is the way I would like to see all apps to work: doing a few speciic tasks very well.

This program is brilliant! Especially with version 7, it is easy to use and looks great. The included skins are attractive and the galleries look professional. JAlbum's greatest strength is the ability to make your own skins. It is completely customizable, flexible and easy to learn if you know HTML. There is also an active user community. Finally, if you ever need to use a PC JAlbum will run on that too.

I just want to say that the latest version of JAlbum looked quite nice on the OS X platform. Also, I hope the developer understand that OS X users tend to have a much higher expectation when it comes to Apple HIG compliance and integration due to the large percentage of 3rd party apps that follow the Apple HIG. Instead of trying to fix some of the bugs in the aqua look and feel manually, the developer might be interested in this BSD-licensed project: http://www.randelshofer.ch/quaqua/. Quaqua is an implementation of the Apple HIG and fixes many of the quirks and bugs in the Aqua L&F that come with OS X. ps. Despite the comment about the lack of icons, OS X application never use icons on buttons and tabs! So I suppose that particular reviewer is the one who is ignorant. The developer should simply strip all icons from the OS X version from now on (instead of wasting the trouble to make OS X- specific icons).

I tried JAlbum over a year ago and didn't like it and I tried it again today and I still do not like it. JAlbum is overall is pretty good, however I dis-like it's interface and also it's inability to intergrate into other applications, such as iPhoto or iView Media Pro. Yes, JAlbum has great templates, but I'm sorry, I cannot get over it's clumsy interface and lack of intergration. For now I'm sticking with Galerie!

I've used most album programs for the Mac: Iphoto, Galerie, Photoshop, Photo2Web, and I'm sure a few others along the way. I love the features and the customizability of this app, and, for once, the fact that is a Java app--more people will be writing great templates for it!
