23 November 2004

Easy, auto-chaptering DVD/MPEG transcoder.

Overview

Forty-TwoDVD-MPPlus supports transcoding DVDs or DVD-Folders to common MPEG formats such as VCD, SVCD, and CVD with the added ability to use the chapter marks from the DVD, automatically even across mulitple output disks. Nothing to type it "just works". Or convert just the "good part" with the Custom Chapter Range option. Your output can also be saved, ready-to-use with the Sizzle DVD authoring suite.

Add buttons, custom menu's and chapter markers. Forty-TwoDVD-MPPlus is a Cocoa App, and uses Unix threading to insure smooth operation, superior multitasking and faster encoding...without terminals popping up all over the place.

Auto-chaptering hassle-free DVD transcoder for MPEG formats. Better interface, faster processing, efficient multi-tasking make it the best of breed DVD-to-MPG tool on any platform for normal users.

Installation process is a pain and I couldn't ever get the program to launch. I suggest the developer use an installer like most other programs. Then, I would be willing to take another look it.

I really like this app, BUT: my serial doesn't work for several months now. I tried to contact the developer several times without any respond. So, as long as the user support is that bad: keep your hands off this application!

It looks to be slow and useless. Not user friendly at all. A rip off if you can't get anything out of it.

Another alternative is MPEG2Works by Serbian, which currently is at version 3.5.1 and costs the same as forty-two. (And it WOIX).

********************************** dudes... dont waste your money, go for "ffmpegX" an excellent video encoding tool. You can encoding for .avi, VCD's, SVCD's, DVD's, extract and make .mp2, mp3 from .vob's, etc.... Internet are full of great tools, you can take 5 minutes for a "research" and find some nice tutorials and software. *********************************

This app is one of the most frustrating and hellish things I have tangled with in many years of computing. I use it exclusively in the DVD 925 mode. However, I have no idea what this mode is actually intended to do, since there is NO DOCUMENTATION and NO SUPPORT - zip, nada, zilch. When it works - intermittently - its great; however it often fails to run, or skips a step and finishes with an empty file, and you are completely S-O-L.

Handbreak is a joy to install, quicker and free. For me there really isn't any choice. Forty-Two is still a good product but it needs something really special in future releases to make it worth paying for. (how about networking macs together for more processor power?!)

Tough install, works well enough making high quality kvcd's except for some pixelization during high motion scenes. If they fixed this issue it'd be awesome.

I was a long time forty-two user until I discovered Handbrake. It's much faster and works great! And it produces excellent sync avi files.

This is the best program of it's kind available for Mac OS. I've used it since the Beta and have had excellent results. Those having issues with it should remember to read the instructions. It not that hard.

This program is really rather useless. Other programs may take just a little more brain, but is quicker and does a better job and they are free.
