I was a somewhat bored by G-force (being more and more complex...too much) and now I love to use fountain. Good idea, "simple", a bit repetitive but it's ok.

It doesn't work when coverflow in iTunes is active.
Yes this is a little bug the developer has to fix...

But Fountain music can be used then you select the track listing only or track listing with small covers, (so don't use coverflow with the BIG nice animated covers with below the track listing), that should do the trick for this Fountain music version.

I turned the coverflow option off in the main screen, and now Fountain music worked, maybe that's a little bug?

I can't believe that I found this just right now. This is simply awesome! Thanks to the developer a million times. :-)

A screen saver like this would be very nice....

Even better than the first versions. I can't wait until it has a way to specify the shapes. Keep up the wonderful work!

Ooops, my bad! I am very sorry about that bug. It was a silly typo (I meant "critical") in the installer, and it will be fixed in the next release. Fountain Music itself is not affected by this bug, so for now, I suggest you try a manual install, as described in the Readme distributed with Fountain Music. Sorry again for the inconvenience, and I hope you enjoy Fountain Music once you get it running.

I've tried a lot of visualizers, mainly out of boredom. This is the only one I like enough to actually use. I enjoy it with all kinds of music, but especially piano pieces and jazz.

Most visualizers, like iTunes' built-in one, are barely anything more than screen savers. They just use the sound to create a squiggly line that does very little to change the overall appearance and feel of the visuals. Most of the visual effects are either random or completely constant accross all songs. That's great if you want to melt your brain (who doesn't?), but it gets boring, and it does nothing to really compliment the music it accompanies.

Fountain Music, on the other hand, really does complement the music. The link between sound and visuals is more than "wow, those lines squiggle more when it's loud!"

It's also not nearly as much of a processor hog as some others, which is a big plus. Some visualizers cause my Mac mini's fan to burst into overdrive, which is not what you want when listening to music!

This one's worth downloading even if you hate visualizers. I hated visualizers, too, until I tried Fountain.

Could you turn the joy up a little? I can't find a "joy" slider in the options (is it a hidden pref in the plist file?), and it's not quite overwhelming me yet. It's getting there, but I'm still merely whelmed. I can feel it trying to overwhelm me, particularly in strong trumpet passages, but it's not quite making it over the top. :)
