I haven't tried this yet, but I'm wondering about the choice of names. Wouldn't "WebLoc something or other" be more indicative of waht this app does?
Finder bookmarks makes me think that my browser bookmarks are available in the finder.

You might want to try it. It does make your browser bookmarks available (as Web Location Files) in the Finder. The new version imports bookmarks from Safari.

but "A", that is exactly what this hot app does... makes your Safari bookmarks available in the Finder...

And, currently the only easy way to organize, edit, and sort out DUPLICATE bookmarks is in the Finder. I find that Safari is unbearably sluggish!

And yes, the application could have been called "Web Internet Location Editor", but, that's soooo dull... I rather like "Finder Bookmarks"

Actually, my response was motivated to suggest to the application's author.... please, please, please... could ya maybe add some duplicate checking? That would be soooo helpful!!!

Thanks!

The price is right and I love the dynamic locations feature! The developer even includes some sample dynamic locations. Definitely worth the download.

Advantages of Finder Bookmarks over browser bookmarks:
  • Not specific to any particular browser - If you use more than one browser or decide to switch browsers, your bookmark collection does not need to be imported, exported, or changed in any way.
  • Better organization - Rename and organize your bookmarks as you use them, not in a clumsy bookmark manager. Store Web Locations related to a project with every other file in the project, and archive them anywhere you wish.
  • More accessible - You don't need to open a browser and then look for a bookmark; your Web Location collection is right in the Finder.
  • Customizable by folder - Like any folder in the Finder, one containing Web Locations can have unique View Options. You could sort one Web Location folder by date created, and another alphabetically.
  • More powerful - No Web browser's bookmarks are as flexible as Dynamic Locations, which can have multiple parameters in the URL. You can save time by skipping a site's front page. Instead, use Finder Bookmarks to enter information before you go to Google, Dictionary.com, or even MapQuest.
