I can't tell what features this has, or how easy it is to use, since it is not working right. I noticed it's been quite a while since this was updated, so it's possible this might be a problem with Tiger. However, as I write this, it has been two hours since the initial launch of this program and it still has a dialog box up saying "Installing mlnet 2.5-16t… Please wait…" And the blue barber pole just keeps spinning. There is no way to apparently stop this, other than cmd-opt-esc, since there is no way to exit this program while it is in this state -- it ignores all quit attempts.

I'm having a problem with mlMac. I started the instalation but everytime I try to open the program it says: "mlMac needs to install the mlnet daemon, but is unable to connect to the Internet. This installation is mandatory, so mlMac will now quit. Please make sure that you are connected to the Internet before launching mlMac." Even though my internet is fine at the moment. Can somebody help me out? Thanx.

Help me! Every time I start up Mlmac it just says "Installing mlnet 2.5-16t...Please wait... Installing new version" even though I have the newest version and I am on panther and this instalation never stops! also any preferences I chance to try and stop this e.g "check versions on launch" just go back to default! Also the only way I can quit is to use force quit.

Very nice app! FTP at its simple and plain best! Keep it up man. I've been trying a whole bunch of different ftp apps, and thus far, not a single one is as reliable. Take XFactor, LimeWire, and SolarSeek as an example. I'm sure as hell gonna keep this one.

Nice work. Keep it up! Excellent! It's faster and stable. I love it. More than 1 year, I just used mlMac. Right now, I download 63.21 GB, & upload 18.17 GB with mlMac. Maximum bandwidth limits depends on networks. mlMac works perfect in every update under Panther. When is the next update coming??? please. Gnutella, openft, opennap STILL NOT WORK in 2.5-16t mlnet. Bittorrent, donkey, fasttrack, soulseek, directconnect are WORKS perfectly. Other p2p applications makes me crazy. For example; Limewire is terrible because of not recoverable temporary files, and corruption in download, wiping huge amount of continues downloads, and low speed.

same as you ronald, I cannot preview in mplayer or vlc. When it first starts up I can preview the files if I also start up mlmac 0.72 or 0.71 and use these apps to preview teh files. this means two versions of mlmac are running. However after mlmac 0.75 has been running for a while I can no longer preview files by this method.

The app is mostly doing it's job very well. Since the last update to 0.7.5 the preview is no longer working. I also upgraded mlnet and vlc (0.8.0) but this did not solve the problem. VLC does open but it does not seem to be getting the preview file. Running 10.3.6 Since I think the problem is in my system: Does anybody have a solution for this ?

I have had reasonably good, if slow, results with earlier versions of mlmac. This latest version appears to be a step backwards. For a day or so it seemed better and then, over a few hours, deteriorated to uselessness. It started to use enormous amounts of memory and cpu, and downloads reduced to a mere trickle, while upload speeds actually increased!! My pbook fans came on and ran constanly even at download speeds of less than 2kb and upload speeds of around 5kb. In addition, the response of mlmac features, and the Finder, became laggy. 'Frustrating' is the politest word that comes to mind. Luckily, xDonkey was able of take over the downloads.

I have been waiting a while for this update and no doubt some others have as well. After having it run for about 9 hours, quiting it a few times and generally having a fiddle with it, it seems to run just fine on my iMac G5 and my eMac G4 as well. I like the new added things it displays. Please note i use other p2p apps but for whole albums i use mlMac without hassle. try to be quicker with updates as i feel this app will do well again and get back on top of the p2p heap once more.

be warned: This app seems to randomly trash a file once it's downloaded... at least it started happening to me. It simply creates a file in the download folder, but doesn't write anything to tha file... I have five of these zero kb files now, and the app even deletes its temp files, so you have no chance of restoring anything. It sux to have to redownload (and then it might just happen again) when it's a big file. I've found no pattern in the this error yet. I'm running OS 10.2.8 BTW

I think mlMac is not compat. with the graphite base station. It will crash mine after some varying length of time. When I hook my computer directly into my DSL modem via. ethernet it works fairly well and does not crash my connection. It also will not monopolize the connection as it does when using the graphite base station. Perhaps it has something to do with the multiple downloads at the same time. It works well in that it can tap into more file swapping services then LimeWire can but it seems to be much slower with DLs then LW. This probably has more to do with the hosts I'm pulling off having a busy CPU and/or limiting their upload bandwidth to their swapping software. A separate issue is that it seems to crash after the program has been running for several hours regardless of it running in the background or not. Memory leak? It can continue downloads even if you shut of the program, host shuts down etc. when the file is accesible again. Its not like you get to 98% of a huge file then host shuts down and your SOL.

I have been running mlmac under 10.2.X and 10.3.X for about six months now, i think it is great, after nasty experiences with some of the other download clients available. I, for the most part get about 15K, regularly get 30K downloads and even 40K and 50K. Stable for the most part, i run the daemon in the background and only open the GUI to add/review downloads. Preview audio and video in VLC which is excellent.

Don't know if it's just me but mlMac would constantly stop my network of 2 computers from connecting to the internet only after mlMac was launched. I would think that you would kind of need the internet to make mlMac work but I may be mistaken (being sarcastic here...) I enede up trashing this thing after I restarted everything (router, cable modem, computers) and was finally able to get back on the net. Won't review mlMac but it didn't work 4 me.

to recover 'temps' in your download folder just look for the fitting size and name .avi, .mp3 or whatever the file is. It will work. I found a little bug where mlmac tells me it cannot download an additional file as my HD is full. Yet, it's not (freed up lots of space). After relaunching mlmac it still recongnizes the remaining free space correctly. Hope that can be fixed! Otherwise this is a wonderful, great app!

Yeah - It finally works. I had to stay away from it for about two months, but now it works for the FIRST time. I am thrilled. Seriously, because it works great. You have to download a lot and pick and choose until you get a download set, but you can now, and once you do, the speed and the selection are superior to Lime Wire. Finally. Now - just make it a real program. Thanks.

I think mlmac is an awesome idea. There's just the small matter of the program actually working. If you want soulseek, go here: http://www.captnswing.net/howto/nicotine/ It shows you how to install the native OSX client for soulseek called Nicotine. Trust me, its even better than the PC version of soulseek!!!!!!!! The only downside is that it takes a while to compile and get it working, but boy is it worth it!!!! Screw poisoned and all the other clients for mac. I use Nicotine and only Nicotine since I got it running. No reason to even keep the others on my HD. Take my word for it, Nicotine is by far the absolute best.

This version has a TERRIBLE memory leak. I have 1.25GBs of RAM and the application crashes on me. I really cannot see why they do not put 0.7.1 back up for download. This is insane, they must see the problem, they must read these reviews. If they are working on the problem they should put 0.7.1 up for DL and pull 0.7.2 entirely until the problem is fixed. Foolishness.

I'd like to have the daemon included in the distribution, so that I can place it accordingly on my own. Plus, I don't have unsolicited free access - and won't have - through my firewall and hence the application cannot find the daemon on startup. Where can I get the daemon manually? /WT

mlMac 0.7.2. is working ok, at least in the usual way...even when a message appears at startup suggesting to return to a previous version.

some things work really better, but it chrashes all the time. If you tell mlmac to let the deamon run your trafffic is not stopped and you can restart mlmac to view you downloads etc. Crashes under panther ar really sad. waiting for the next update.

Got 0.72 working by deleting the mlnet deamon in ~/library/application support/mlmac. Deleting the whole drawer also removes current downloades, so.. be carefull..

In all fairness Dave most people DO review the application. I'd give it 2 stars 'cause in all honesty that's what it deserves. I've used EVERY file sharing app available for the Mac so I can give a good comparison. Just because the app works for you does not mean the reviews or comments by others are invalid - Grow up Dave! [Quote] Some people should question their own intelligence before they question the quality of this app. [End Quote] Jesus, stop taking it so personally. Attacking someone's opinion only shows your own shortcoming. [Quote] Depending on what I download I get 80KB+. This should really be obvious. [End Quote] What seems obvious here is that if you downloaded some jpgs from your grannies house round the corner then maybe you get that speed - but the fact is that virtually nobody else is acheiving conistently fast d/l rates, let alone your apparent super speed. But then again, perhaps the others including me are all using the app incorrectly, right Dave?

Love this program to no end. Poisoned who? Acquisition what? Great UI, not clunky, very crisp search results. The soulseek implementation is what I've been looking for on macs for years. This is the only one that does it, and does it well. Kicks ass. Although it only seems to work best when I just leave it running all night. Still worth it, considering its free. Kudos to the developer. Keep up the amazing work.

I've downloaded a lot of stuff with this program but it takes patience. Downloads are slow. There are many bugs and I can live with all of them but one - the memory leak. There's a serious memory leak when I use this program. When I leave it open with about a half hour or so I only have about 25-150 MB of my 1.5 GB of memory free. I've been using Memory Hog to free it up but it would be nice if I didn't have to.

Hmm. How very underwhelming. I'll give it a try later in development. (I still think the symbol wrapped around the planet in the Icon looks like a bikini bottom for a transexual 8^D )

I think this is great work in Panther too which is a bonus. I have one problem I have an 80 gig HD but when I try to D/L a file over 2 gig it says my HD is full when it clearly isn't Any ideas?

Well....I have a d/l that is about 200mb and is complete. Instead of a img file its "dl-15"... Whats up with that!? Is this a waste of time and should just delete it or is there a way to turn "dl-15" file into its original state as a .img file? Im on Panther with Mlmac 7.1

In addition to my previous post I also saw that when - you have 3 or more files with the exact same name (same or different network, doesn't matter) and - one of them is partially downloaded and - the download list is sorted by name the files names jump up and down each other in the queue list.

mlMac worked well before I started using Panther. Now it stops working after after a few minutes and it has to be restarted to resume the files all the time. This makes it hard to use. Please make it work well again.

much less stable then previous version ... - very little network connection stability - very little download (speed) stability - on a queue of 60 files plan on getting maximum 2 files in 24 hours - sometimes crashes/freezes whole computer for no aparent reason (10.2.8) - when quitting it doesn't keep the queue intact (some files in the queue dissappear, randomly) - when clicking to download a file that is already in the queue (exact same name & network) it can for no reaon abort the file in the queue without putting in the new file. - getting slower (app responsiveness) all the time These were as far as I know not presend in the previous version. But keep up the good work! Still by far the best P2P 4 mac. Although ... not much choice between rotten apples. But, this one shows the best potential.

Very nice app! However it bugs the hell out of me that I cant ABORT downloads. When I click a download and choose to abort it NOTHING HAPPENS. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this a general problem?
