This thread is full of BS reviews cooked up by the developer, and he didn’t even make an effort to hide it. He’s clearly not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I am a sucker for nice GUI and this fails. About demo: I understand they put a logo on top of the movie when using this in demo mode but why is it just too intrusively? About pricing: It just too expensive. There are tons of free and lower priced apps for the same purpose. Hint to the devs: Remove the intrusive demo limitation and I revisit the demo.

This is the only app I was able to make a VCD with. VCD Builder made me crazy, didn't caccept my mp4 files and can't burn anyway, and Toaster didn't burn my discs successfully. Just a waste of time with both. With this one it took forever but it worked at my first attempt.

The Mireth documentation mentions that a watermark is added to VCDs produced with the demo. However, the "watermark" is by no means of the attractive, discreet and transparent variety, but is a very intrusive overlay impressed throughout the whole file produced. I think there must a classier way to watermark the demo output than the hideous green crayonic scrawl presently used. iVCD does work well as advertised, with drag-n-drop, one-click-to-convert-and-burn simplicity. Apple would do well to take note of this program and incorporate such a feature into iMovie or iDVD. I bought the downloadable version after trying out the demo, and was pleased with the efficient and reliable purchasing and registration system Mireth offers. I would gladly recommend this product for someone needing an inexpensive VCD authoring alternative to more full-featured, multipurpose burning software.

This is a great application. Does exactly what it says and it couldn't be any easier to use. I had no trouble at all using it on my 1 ghz G4 powerbook.

a truly great app / it makes SVCDs that look better than iDVD DVDs / on top of that it will mirror iPhoto's natural dissolves in a QT .mov whereas iDVD must go thru iMovie to be error-free on dissolves (thus upping the .mov by many hundred MBs) / if this app ever becomes really fine-tuned it could replace iDVD

There is a changelog/version history/release notes (whatever name you prefer) but the developer does not realize that it is not a good idea to provide that info in .PDF format. Data from a .PDF can not be copied/pasted. But the version history is available on his site, and it ain't easy to find. Developers: Only three things really matter as regards info for a given app on a given webpage... 1) Version number, 2) Version history, and 3) Download link. These things should be so prominently displayed/available that a six year old could find them. Yes, a general description is required, but that is so very obvious that I did not include it in the aforementioned "three things".

After getting my new powerbook, loaded with the iLife suite of media applications, I thought iMovie and iDVD would help create custom dvd's to allow a cool distribution method for my various digital media projects. I do music, graphics and video. If I could create a dvd that held all of these and could be played on a tv, well then, great. Ok, a dvd cannot hold anything but a dvd movie and stills. So I created a few that did just that. I also worked on a fairly important (to me) music video that I sent to my partner in L.A. He got a dvd and a cd that contained various quicktime versions as well, so both a tv and a computer could preview the work. The dvd would not play on his high end Sony player though it played fine on my cheap Memorex player. I was getting pissed at Apple and iDVD till I read up and figured that it's really the media, the dvd-r discs that you buy that make the difference. And that, like the early cd formats, compatibility issues should be resolved soon. Until then I'll send the movies and stills and music in both quicktime cd's and dvd's. Then I heard about a new piece of software called iVCD($30). Their product allows you to burn a movie onto a regular cd for play in a stand alone dvd player. Great! Now, could iVCD let me make a cd that contained stills, audio files and a dvd that would play anywhere? No. And what a shame. First, iVCD can convert any .mov file into it's own format. It then let's you burn that package to a cd. And it did play on my stand alone dvd player . Though some intermittent horizontal lines would show in the dark sequences of the video. Then I popped it back into my powerbook expecting the DVD Player (Apples player software) to start. No go. Quicktime wouldn't play the file either. iVCD's website tells me you gotta buy their player software($20). Such promise...I liked iVCD's interface and simplicity. I did not like the results. Let me make an all in one media format that works on stand alone players and computers and I'll buy it. If anyone out there knows of a solution please let me know

Finaly we have a program that takes care of the hole (S)VCD creation proces. The demo has a watermark on the final results but work great. The program burnes the files itself and cdrw drives it does not know means that you can just burn using Toast via a single button click. It is much better then the inbuilt toast VCD maker. I will never use toast for VCD again. This is just to brilliant. The only thing I wan't that I could not find in the demo (might be in the comercial one) is a menue builder. This is somthing I would really want and in my view is the only thing missing.
