I'm not sure why you say that about the pricing (other than to provide a negative comment). BRU Server is not a desktop backup product and it is far less expensive that any competing network backup solution available on the Mac platform (or any other platform for that matter). Rather than simply making such an obscene remark, pleas share what other network enterprise backup solutions you're comparing our pricing against.

We are looking at ATempo, and configured for our SpectraLogic tape robot and server licenses we are looking at $148,000 plus annual maintenance.
In the real enterprise world $599 is chump change.
This is not your average TimeMachine or CarbonCopyCloner solution

BRU Server has been the best backup application for my home office that I have found yet. I backup both Windows & Linux systems and BRU lets me do it painlessly.

bru is maturing nicely. they've been around forever and have a solid reputation for faithfully restoring backed up files. i especially love the ease of setting up disk-to-disk-to-tape (d2d2t).

whither retrospect...helooowww bru! :)

Version 1.1 is HUGE improvement. The has totally changed from fugly to easy to use and look at. I've been beta testing this version for 6 months. They are very responsive to bug fixes and improvements.

The console manager is great. I can login from home to my clients backup server and setup new jobs, restore old job, verify jobs. I can do everything. I can do all this while MULTIPLE BACKUP are occuring...this blows Retrospect away. On Retro I have to use ARD, VNC, Timbuktu to get a gui. Then I can use Retrospect. Then when a job is running I can't do anything. I can't restore, I can't make a new job with out stopping what is happening.

Native OSX. Real support for loaders; barcode readers; setup of one slot for a cleaning tape; import/export slots. Supports fibre channel. Allows to allocate drives and slots to a job. Retrospect- after years of waiting- cannot do any single ONE of the features mentioned. In addition, it is --FAST--. On my 150,000 files-disk, Retrospect will scan for 45 minutes (!), while this software starts writing to the tape the second it starts (hello Dantz ?). Now if we only had personal licenses for SOHO users...

DISCLAIMER: This software is ideal for power users who usually are using DLT/LTO autloaders (robotics to load tapes) and libraries (robotics with more than one tape drive). If you do not fall in this group, you will be happier with a product that has less options (block size, etc) and features an all graphical user-interface (with no parameter files to edit).
