Overview

osxutils is a bundle of Mac-oriented command-line utilities that facilitate working with Mac OS file meta-data, and allow you to alter and/or control all sorts of Mac-specific things via the command line.

It's best to install this using MacPorts, as the old pre-compiled binaries are PPC only. Also, there is a much better trash command to be found here: http://hasseg.org/trash If you installed osxutils with MacPorts, rename that trash command so that it doesn't get executed: sudo mv /opt/local/bin/trash /opt/local/bin/trash-disabled

When installing using .pkg file, watch out this will overwrite the permission of directories such as /usr, /usr/share, /usr/local, and /usr/local/bin, that is, root:wheel with your user:your group. You can use disk utilities to fix permissions but /usr/local and its subdirectories remain untouched, so you have to fix those with your hand.

Excellent tools! I use then with OnMyCommand CM all the time. Would love to see some clipboard tools added ... multiple clipboards.

Great utilities, but there are a number of problems with the man pages, ranging from blank lines (not allowed) to directive errors. Specifically, google and setlabel.
