Decode different compressed files.

Overview

Decoder is designed to decode files that have been converted to a different format so that they can be more easily downloaded or e-mailed. Decoder will decode AppleSingle, BinHex, MacBinary(versions I, II, and III), UUencoded, MIME (base64, etc), and yEnc formats.Just drag and drop the encoded files onto the Decoder application icon and Decoder can detect the encoding scheme and decode accordingly.

What's new in Decoder

Version 4.0.4: There is a minor bug fix for handling corrupt Mac OS X Zip archives.

the developer should learn that Stuffit Expander is free and is about 275% better :-/

Works just beeautifully. I can't stand stuffit and it's not the defacto Mac compressor any more, thankfully. HOWEVER, there's the dark side. --- already mentioned negatives --- $20 bucks for this minimalist little app?!! An upgrade to stupid bloated stuffit deluxe 10 is only $30 There's lots of free software to do this and this is NOT $20 better! Not better at all. --- additional negatives --- Unless they change once it's registered, there a a couple really annoying behaviors i noted: (1) When automatically creating directories for decoded files (zips in my tests) it adds "(decoded)" to the directory name instead of simply removing '.zip' and there's no pref to change the behavior. i.e. "Archive.zip" is decoded into folder "Archive.zip (decoded)" instead of 'Archive' (2) It doesn't auto-quit if you drag a file onto the icon. No pref for this either.

Its ok if you want to decompress something real fast. It handled my file that Stuffit wouldn't decompress, prefectly. Use this is you don't have Stuffit or Stuffit isn't working.

If this decompresses faster and more reliably than stuffit, why on earth would you want to use that proprietary piece of crap?

This is worth 2/3 as much as GraphicConverter? When there is freeware that does the same thing? I don't think so.

Pay $20 for something that doesn't decode half of what Stuffit Expander expands for free? HAR HAR HAR!

They want $20 for something that does virtually zero more than a program (Stuffit Expander) which is both (a) free, and (b) pre-installed? Best of luck with that.
