Most helpful

Do yourselves a favor and get SEE Finance 2. It's very well-supported, works well, and upgrade fees are quite rare (only when they went from version 1 to version 2, which is a complete rewrite). I'm curious to see how US-centric non-US customers find it. It's definitely extremely customizable.

Banktivity's support is the absolute worst worst. You can not call them its either chat or unresponsive email requests.

Have used iBank for about 5 years mostly ok. Bought a new iMac Catalina, managed to import the data into Banktivity 7, then added about a month's bank data into the 7 version. If i turn off my computer all recent data is lost or all the old data needs to be reentered as if starting new. Sent an email to help 18 days ago, No response. I' m going to Quicken Nothing can be as bad as this.

The tech support sucks, but I've been generally happy with the app so far. I really like the interface.

Banktivity cannot download security prices for Canadian stocks ( TSE .to) It used to now they stopped providing this another regression since the launch of Version 7. Instead of fixing they withdraw options they advertised

it was fixed, now it downloads security prices from Canadian stock exchanges but still not Dividend yield

I paid for iBank 4, their predecessor software, which I've used (and experienced as a lukewarm app for most of that time) for about 7 years. I have a decade of data in the database. I recently purchased Banktivity 7 and it will not upgrade database from iBank 4 (the apps own predecessor, mind you) to Banktivity 7. So, I have 10 years of info I cannot use. I appreciate that apps cannot always be backward compatible. However, financial software is unique. Owners of previous versions will, more than new customers, have vital data they need to bring forward with them on any new version. Yet they have mechanism for updating this critical data for use with a new version of their own app. It isn't as if I'm expecting them to import all the data from another application. Just their own damned app. I emailed IGG support several times and after multiple days and multiple emails finally got a response. The response was to give me a registration code and instructions on how to enter it. What?!?! Not at all what I asked about. I restated the issue and now three business days later, no response. Abysmal service. I strongly encourage those considering financial software to look elsewhere.

No support whatsoever. I paid for Bankivity 7. It worked for one day then began downloading duplicate entries from my bank. I deleted the entries and they reappear. All the data is useless. There is no phone Bankivity tech support. It is a web chat. After 30 minutes waiting to connect the tech support person told me that a ticket was created and I would receive an Email from a different tech support. That was two weeks ago and I have not received a reply. One week ago I asked for a refund (email only). No reply. This product does not work. This product has no technical support. You will not be able to recover the product cost. Brock Fisher San Diego

I've used this for years because I liked the UI and loved the direct access allowing auto download of transactions from all my Bank Account (UK ones). I fired it up yesterday to check my finances and direct access has now stopped working for all my Bank Accounts!!! There is a message saying this is a result of the new Open Banking regulations, they are looking into it, but can't guarantee they will be able to resolve it! What a farce - these new regulations haven't been introduced overnight - how have they not prepared for this. And no mention of refunds for people that have paid a yearly fee for this service. Utterly disgraceful. I took a quick look at Quicken 2019 last night - seems cheaper than Banktivity and has free direct access to download bank transactions. Anyone got any opinions on how well this works in Quicken?

Yes, if you had asked this 3 years ago, I would have said Banktivity with all its warts is better than Quicken, especially the mobile app. But Quicken has improved greatly during this time and I would have to say it's one of the best Mac-based financial software out there. Their mobile offering now has a much better UI and syncs much more reliably with the Mac version. If you don't mind paying a yearly subscription, then Quicken is a good option...definitely better than Banktivity these days. Personally, I use (and have been for almost 2 years) SEE Finance. A little rougher on the edges than Quicken but incredibly close in features after a tenth the development time. And it (currently) is a pay once application on Mac. iOS app is pretty robust too and can download online transactions by itself...which makes it a nice, self-sufficient solution on an iPad. Overall, I don't like Banktivity and the development path it's taken (since iBank). Quicken and SEE Finance are much better options, in my opinion.

Banktivity 7 is a miss for me. Here is why. I am using Version 5.6.12 and was looking forward to using version 7. I purchased 7 and discovered that my Credit Union, where I have 5 account within the CR, can only update one or two of them. I can't remember how many right now. I worked with IGG Support , which has always been great, and to make a long story short, they said that it cannot download all the Credit Union accounts because they all have the same basic number. They use a main number and a suffix after this number to designate the different accounts. This was a Deal Breaker for me. All other bank accounts were downloaded properly. The confusing thing is that in Version 5.6.12 it works perfectly on all accounts including the CR. I asked why they couldn't do the same thing in Version 7 as they did in Version 5.6.12? They said it wasn't't that easy. So they did give me a refund. I have to say I liked everything about Banktivity 7 . Especially the dark mode. It just doesn't perform as well in recognizing accounts as version 5.6.12. I really hope they fix this situation and I would buy again in a minute.

I think I found out what was wrong now. My Credit Union said they do not allow more than one financial program at a time to access and download account data. Which means I would have to deactivate the accounts in Banktivity 5.6.12 before I could download in Banktivity 7. This is for my Credit Union ONLY. All other Bank accounts downloaded fine in Banktivity 7 even with Version 5 active. It is a little scary to deactivate a program that is working perfectly just to try another.
