MaxiMice1.0.1

28 June 2003

Adds clickless scrolling & window dragging.

Overview

MaxiMice adds clickless scrolling and window dragging to all Cocoa applications. Views will automatically scroll when the mouse pointer comes close to an edge and windows can be both moved and scrolled by holding down a modifier key - no need to manipulate scroll widgets or to drag windows by their title bar. MaxiMice is ideal for owners of laptops or older mice and provides relief for people suffering from RSI or carpal tunnel syndrome.

What's new in MaxiMice

Version 1.0.1 adds the following:
  • Fixed a conflict with Apple's Safari.
  • Fixed a conflict with CocoaTech's Path Finder.
  • Several performance enhancements.

This DOES work in Tiger, you twits. I'm using it right now in Tiger 10.4.9. The only beef I have with it, is that since I upgraded to Tiger it doesn't scroll as smoothly in Safari as it used to. And, yes, I wish it worked with Firefox, etc. Otherwise, this is fantastic and I desperately hope to see further development. It's really the only OS X replacement for the popular "Scrollability" that was available in OS 9 days. This software makes sense, saves you time and carpal tunnel syndrome to boot. I won't upgrade my OS without it. I just really wish it still scrolled smoothly in Safari like it used to do in Panther!!!!

I have enjoyed this app for a long time. (registered) It seems to not work with newer apps such as Firefox or NetNewsWire. I have emailed the developer several times but have heard nothing. I'm not sure how to be absolutely sure that NNW & Firefox are cocoa. I know NNW 1.x is, and Maximice worked perfectly with that.

Bravo! The update works like a charm. How anyone lives without this, I don't know. I have always used Scrollability, and now with MaxiMice I can have similar features in OS X. Now if they could just let me disable the side scrolling, it would be perfect! 5 Stars.

The latest version will now work well with Safari 1.0. An incompatibility with CocoaTech's Path Finder has also been fixed.

I have loved MaxiMice since I first downloaded it, and I quickly paid the fee because it is worth it. BUT... now it doesn't work with Safari 1.0 (v.85). Someone please tell me they will be fixing this, and soon.
