Securely store your passwords and more.

Overview

Safe Place is an application designed to securely store your passwords, credit card numbers, software registration numbers, or any other information you want to keep handy and safe from prying eyes.

Safe Place organizes your information into categories, which you can completely customize. We've preconfigured Safe Place with seven common categories. You can change or delete these, and create more of your own. Each category can have from one to forty custom fields. The fields can be grouped into sets to make them easy to manage.

Safe Place stores your data in an encrypted format, and uses your password as the encryption key. Your data can only be viewed using this password.

What's new in Safe Place

Version 2.2.4:

The application was nice in 2008 but it appears the developer has abandoned it. Very buggy under Snow Leopard.

I can not understand, why the developer abandons this software. It would be about time to (a) have an universal app and (b) have a corresponding iPad/iPhone app. But since 2 years: nothing Sad story.

I have been using this software for some years now and it functions very well for me - except for a recent problem. Since upgrading to Leopard, I cannot print files from SP on my iMac G5. It starts like it is going to, printer window comes up but nothing happens after sending off the file to print. Also cannot print a pdf. I have emailed the developer several times over the last few months and he does not reply, so this is discouraging in regards to support. I don't know how much this is a problem for others.

I second the iPhone/touch request. I'd love to see a client w/ syncing for that platform.

As a registered owner of Safe Place, since March 2005, I've just got to say that this is a one of the most useful apps that I use. I must bring it up 3 or 4 times a day, and it is super fast, even with my 200+ entires. I love how configurable it is. I generally go with free applications, but after trying out Safe Place, I decided to fork over the super reasonable price of $10. You can even use it from more than one computer on a network. The single encrypted data file is easy to back up. If you need to restore, just move the single data file to the right place, and you've got your backed up data. I hope that someday we'll have this app available on our iPhone. I just can't say anything bad about Safe Place. Good and friendly support if you ever need it. FIVE STARS! BRAVO!

I've tried the rest, this is still the best. The flexibility of defining your own forms is the strongest feature most of the competitors lack. I have ~500 entries, it works quickly and easily.

Amazing piece of software that's simple to use and easy to customize to your taste. I bought it after only 5 minutes of trying and believe me it's all the time you need to realize it's the best in its category. I also received my serial number 3 minutes after paying for it! Last but not least its modest price makes it affordable for those who really care for their data security. This is how a Mac's software should be! Fariborz AMIRSHAHI - Verona (Italy)

I've been using Safe Place for a couple of years, (after comparing it to other password utilities) and find it invaluable. The customizability (is that a word?) of the interface is genius-- Plus, when I needed a spot of technical help the developer gave me the tip I needed right away. That, for me, is always worth the price of admission--and then some. Bottom line: Great software, great price, great service.

This software truly is the best. It operates with no complaints on my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.4.8 I needed help with the registration due to a problem on my end and Dave from Mere Mortal Software responded to my email within 5 minutes! Now how is that for service! He was very helpful and we had the issue resolved right away. What can I say about the software. It is a very clean interface with nice features such as password generation with tough character sets to 'hack'. It is so nice to finally not have passwords forgotten or stored on pieces of paper. Always seemed so counter-intuitive doing things that way. Now I use SafePlace and never again wonder what my login was. This also allows me to not fear changing the sensitive sites regularly with tough passwords as I won't forget them. Great Stuff Mere Mortal Team!

I've evaluated the whole lot of all password repository apps out there and Safe Place is definitely my favorite one. I've been using Safe Place on a daily basis for 7 months and had not troubles at all with it. All the involved characteristics for a five star application is in there: it's easy to use, well designed, customizable, fast, and the price is very generous. Done and deal for me!

We've used Safe Place for over a year now, and use it almost daily. > It performs flawlessly!! I did have one request for support right after installing Safe Place a year ago. The support person replied with an answer almost instanly. Since that time the older product performed perfectly. I am sure the new version 2.1 will perform just as well. Scott Reynolds.. a very satisfied customer.

I was a long time Password Master user who got tired of waiting for an update. I'll bet I looked at 20 different password/serial utilities until I tried Safe Place. Safe Place has all the attributes you would want in a utility like this: It is easy to use, secure, stable, launches quickly and has some surprizing flexibility in customizing your own catregories. I highly recommend it whether you are a first time user or, if you like me and are moving from an utility. By the way, customer support is fast and friendly.

I have been using 2 separate programs for many years to keep track of my passwords/websites and serial numbers. To my surprise I stumbled across this nifty little program that does it all, and more. I used it for about 1 hour, then gladly sent $10 to the author. It has a very clean interface and is real easy to customize to your needs. I look forward to the additional features the author anticipates adding. Check it out!

With the proliferation of web sites requiring unique passwords and software with length activation codes, some sort of program of this type is necessary to keep track of everything. I looked at several progams, but this one was easily the best. Elegant, well-thought out and easy to use. Recommended.

This is one of those wonderful small applications that does just one thing well. Diid I mention it does it well, meaning it completely covers the need for protecting password and other 'must keep' info and is still user friendly. The kicker is the price which is much more reasonable than the program it has replaced.

The best $10.00 I have ever spent on software. It has helped me many a time. I keep all of my software registrations, log-ons, credit cards and frequent flyer information in it. I have put an icon in the Dock for easy access. (Love the icon) I have been able to design input forms that work the way I work. I like that I can get a printout of all of my information. It even warns me that this maybe a security risk. I like that the product is continuing to be developed. "Dead" produces worry me. I appreciate products that continue to get better at what they do. If I have had a question, the developer has always gotten back to me in a very short time. Would I recommend this product? Yes, with no question. Everyone should have a product like this for their own piece of mind.

I'm very pleased with the usefulness and feature set of this application. As someone who creates database backed apps for the web, it's nice to see an app that intelligently handles data structure customization. The developer has managed to make customization of categories intuitive and flexible. I've tried quite a number of similar applications and this one lets me enter data and find it again very easily. The search function is nicely done. Customer support is excellent and the price is more than fair. Highly recommended.

i've been using keychain's 'secure notes' feature to store all of my serial numbers for the applications i have purchased for the mac. while this was an acceptable solution, it didnt feel right. i use oubliette on my laptop for passwords and serial numbers, and was looking for a way to import that data into whichever program i picked for the mac. i was having second thoughts about safe place until i saw the customization options for categories (40 custom fields per category!); i immediately purchased it and set to work. 10 minutes later all of my data from oubliette is in safe place. very happy with this app, would suggest it to anyone looking for a password (or other secure data) manager.

I don't know why this is getting such high reviews here. This thing was running so slow on my mac I couldn't stand it. I have OS X 10.4.3, G4 933. Plus you can't customize the viewing window. I want to be able to see my passwords when I open the app. And the Preferences are located under the Edit menu like this is still an OS 9 app. What gives?

I just bought this program and love it. It was easy to import information from my old program and I really like being able to create customized categories to store information. It's a very simple and straightforward program that does what it says. Plus, the developer is very responsive to emails and suggestions.

A nice compact program, easy to use and customize. The import feature works quite well with CSV files. I also like how you're able to access your data file on an iDisk between 2 or more Macs.

It took me a couple of hours to enter my records, but for the first time, I have a secure collection of personal information, access codes and accounts. I really like the flexibility of creating categories that match different types of information (airlines, credit cards, passports, etc). Well worth $10.00.

Appears to need better import - I exported a text database from Steel and this program didn't read that, never mind the original database, so I couldn't easily check it's functionality.

After trying two other password protection programs, I decided that Safe Place is the best. It is just simple to use and the developer seems to really care abou making his product better each time. I admire people that take the time and make the effort to produce such wonderful products. We should all support these folks. Cheers to Safe Place 1.3.1 it just works.

While I have not used it, I have looked it over and read the reviews. It seems well thought out and comprehensive. It also offers support that is easy to get at. It seems to be a full featured product at a fair price. However the market is full of password programs with various functionality and features. Let us not forget that Apple offers a somewhat controversial one of its own, Keychain, located in the Utilities folder on OS X systems. It can be configured for access from the menu bar. Another good one, with less features, but free is Pastor. Like so many other utilities with many choices, it is best to review your choices before making a decision to spend your money and find the product that suit your needs best. Safe Place does seem to be an excellent product, at a reasonable cost - if you need or desire the features it provides.

In my opinion, the best password storing program out there! Easy to use and customizable with a nice clean interface. The author is also prompt in answering any questions you may have. Try it out and see for your self! And for only $10 to register it can't be beat!

This little app does it all, and in a nice clean and simple way. It's simple and to the point. I tried allot of these progs to finaly make a right choice, and i know with safe place i made the right choice. Other appz have lot's of stuff you are not gonna use, but you pay for it that's for sure. Safe Place does what you pay for and it's highly customizable so you can use it the way you want!! The thing i like very much is, you can cutomize every field you enter. So if you need less ore more fields just maken them and name it anyway you like... Finaly i just wanna say one thing to the author of Safe Place. Keep up the good work and update your app on a regular base, and make it even better!!
