What's New
Version 1.3:
  • Now the size over GB is displayed as (x.xx GB) instead of using big MB number.
  • Fixed a bug of displaying more than 11 digits of byte size, which occurs for items more than 100GB.
  • Now all size display starts with KB, MB, GB size and followed by length byte size in parentheses.
  • If a single file or a single volume is selected from the Finder, size information are directly displayed to the context menu instead of 'Calculate Size...' menu command. This makes it much easier to check the size of a single file/volume than using Finder's Get Info dialog.
  • Changed the icon of the plugin.

CalculateSizeCM CommentaryWorking alternative to CalculateSizeCM...

I use FileBuddy 9 (may work with previous versions, too). Drag your selections to the FileBuddy icon and a list of your files and folders appears. Select them all and click on the "Group" button to see separate totals: total items selected, number of files, number of folders, total items, total size, and total numbers of individual file types. FileBuddy is not free, but it's universal.

I just upgraded to a Intel Mac and I feel lost without this wonderful little CM device. I used it all the time. Haven't been able to find anything comparable. If anyone knows of an alternative, please post it here.

I had no idea how much I used this CMM until I got an intel mac and stopped being able to use this - I really hope these folks recompile their CMMs sometime soon so we intel-users can have them back again.

I was mistaken -- or rather, I changed something, or something was updated (ha -- I bet you it was FolderGlance, which is another contextual menu plugin). Anyway, I'm glad CalculateSize is back.

Really works good!
The Classic version worked great under os8-9 and this version works just as good under OSX.
This CMM is not only far faster than GetInfo but far more informative too.
A very sweet peice of freeware.
