Hi! I get the error message: "You can't open the application HyperEngine-AV because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." on my Macbook White 2008. Why is this? And how do I fix it?

Today I downloaded HyperEngine-AV 1.6.1 for Mac from the MacUpdate site but I can't open any files in in it. I can not open music or video files from my computer into HyperEngine-AV. I don't know if I am doing something wrong or if it is the software. I have more than enough space and memory on my Mac Pro. Can anyone give me a clue as to what to do? Thanks

While you can't fault the product for sheer usefulness and the price tag (now free) unfortunately there seems to be a problem with "Export Video.." functionality. Every time I try the application quits with no warning or any error message. I'm using Tiger, updated to the hilt, Quicktime Pro 7 registered and have 512 RAM (256 recommended), twice as much available disk space as recommended and a G4 chip. Shame.. ..but then there always seems to be something which goes wrong with anything that's free on the Mac.

I've been following this since v1, and have been interested in the concept/design behind the app. In my case, I've been looking for an application to do slide shows set to music...but I need complete control over transitions and placement of the stills. This goes back to the "old days" when I created multiprojector slide shows choreographed to music soundtracks. iMovie is great for video, but still handling is poor. FCP has a MAJOR issue in that if you move audio you have to rerender the track...idiotic. Avid XPress doesn't have that issue, but you need a dongle and Avid as a company has "issues". HyperEngine is pretty damn good for this. If you could add a beats/measures timeline I would be in heaven. But the realtime transition rendering is great, and it is trivial to shrink/extend the time a still spends on screen. This is a great alternative to traditional movie editing software, and is infinitely easier to use relative to Flash.

In response to the two reviews below regarding Montage: We are releasing HyperEngine 1.2.1. This is the same application as Montage except we have changed the name due to a legal challenge. In the process, we have returned to a serial number authorization system that does not require any challenge/response on the part of the User to use the application with a specific machine. This decision was made based on the response from our User base. Our original position was that an additional key would be provided free of charge but keys after that point would require an administraion fee to cover our costs. We are working on a fix for the resampling problem on importing audio at rates other than 44.1 khz. Audio Units versions of our OSX plug-ins will be available in the near future. I upgraded from the OS9 version of Ray Gun and find the OSX version a step backward. For one thing, you must use Montage to use Ray Gun Pro at this point, no Audio Units Support yet. But far worse is that for an application supposedly dealing with DV video, it will not even import DV audio sample rates 48 and 32Khz. It samples everything at 44.1khz which distorts the audio and forces you to either transcode in another application or guess what your audio will actually sound like at the proper sample rate. Not good guys, wish I'd bought Soundsoap instead.

If you want to move this software to a another computer it costs you $20 to generate a new key.
