OSX TankFighters1.0.7

09 April 2006

3D fast paced tank game.

Overview

OSX TankFighters is a fast paced, 3D tank game that promises quick action and rewarding game play. OSX TankFighters is a ton of fun alone or for a different kind of challenge, play online with up to 8 people.

OSX TankFighters takes place in a smallish world with up to 8 tanks battling for glory. Because of the small size of the world, action begins briskly and never slows down. Each world has buildings and hills providing hiding space and defensive ground.

OSX TankFighters is easy to learn and play. Great for a quick diversion during a busy day. No need to get out a heavy manual each time you choose to play.

WOW!!!! I never have blasted an app right when it first come out but this one was really bad!!!! Bullseye... This one needs A LOT more testing before it is ready for prime time... One I loaded it up I could not get out of it till I forced it out and that took some doing. Setup: tiBook 500/1gig/20HD

Following my previous post I can confirm that the latest version is much improved in 10.4.2. I would now say that the game plays as smoothly in 10.4.2 as it did before (perhaps even slightly better).

Used to be good, but sticks and jumps now in 10.4.2 (A shame). If this is fixed it would be great. I'm running 10.4.2 on an 800 MHz eMac with 1G of ram so this is not making much sense.

I'm not overly impressed. Plays at about 12fps on my 700MHz eMac, which makes aiming a pest; what is it doing that makes it so slow? There are no video options, so I can't do anything to improve performance. I'm sure it would be better on faster machines, but the specs imply it should run on a G3 iMac - I'm not even prepared to try that. The controls are rather awkward. The developer might want to consider optionally automating either driving or aiming, simplifying the controls, or lengthening the trial period (as a flight-sim fan since F-15 Strike Eagle on the Commodore 64, I don't usually find complex controls a problem). For fast action I'll play BZFlag, if I want simulation I'll play Warbirds (and have a choice of ground vehicles), and both of those play smoothly on my white plastic dinosaur. This game falls in the middle, and doesn't really do either well enough to make me part with $20 when the others let me play for free. That said, the game shows promise.

I have been using OSX TankFighters for quite some time. This is one of my real favorites. Yes, I've played Battlezone at the arcades, but the download Mac version just didn't meet my expectations. The same can be said for Pocket Tanks that never really worked properly. OSX TankFighters is pure fun, never misses a beat, and is a real stress reliever. Nice program, great job creating this program.

Is $20 for one user only?

sorry... but... CRAP. i like the idea but too many glitches to count, textures, collision, CONTROLS (you forget laptop uses lack a numpad, we have numlock, but c'mon you try playing like that) in retro spec, CRAP is to harsh... i've completely changed my mind... more developement is diffinately good, but $20 for an unlimited copy is steep for this game, gimme 10 minutes of play and a new control scheme, maybe i'll bite, and make  + Q = quit i dunno, my 2¢ -9mm (ouT)

Don, Is there any way it might be possible to add support for assigning any key to any command?

Pay for it cheapskates and stop complaining about the pop-up. A network place to meet would be great, as I reckon the game would a whole new thing if I could find others.

Good Game but i wudnt pay $20.00 for it, quite easy to master apart from the pop-up after 5 minutes which asks you to pay, and then it quits.

No problems here. And very fun to play. A bit hard to master with the frequent Shareware reminder popping up. (Cube 500 10.2)
