People, This app is discontinued. Don't bother clicking on the download because it takes you to the developers site where he states that it no longer exists. Hey MacUpdate !!! Kindly remove this from your list. Peace out.

Sorry we won't do that, for a number of reasons. Not the least being that the app may someday be reborn. In our many years of experience, this does happen.

Apple does have a free AppleScript that can convert text to audio files, but it does not offer approximate words-per-minute control, length-of-preview control, and other options that AudioBookMaker offers--not to mention use of all 22 voices (at least one of the voices when I tested it didn't work properly) and a standalone, user-friendly interface. If the AppleScript does everything you want it to, by all means use that. I'll even supply the link for you: http://www.apple.com/applescript/macosx/text2audio.html It's a good deal for free. But for the features you get, at $2.50, AudioBookMaker's a pretty good deal, too.

DON'T buy this. There is a apple script that comes FREE with Mac OS X that does exactly this. So why pay someone else for software apple is giving you as apple script.
