Calculates amortization rates for a loan.

Overview

Loan Table is a small program that will display the amortization table for a loan and also calculate the monthly payment. This calculator is designed for simple interest loans that are compounded monthly as most morgages use this system. It will also calculate for extra principal payments made to the loan.

What's new in Loan Table

Version 4.0.2: Fixed a very small bug where if you typed the loan amount and then went directly to any field other than rate, without putting in the rate, the program would freeze

This application is very small, only 105K, yet the program supplies all of the requirements for basic loans. I have worked in the investment industry for 15 years, and I find that for most clients this application provides the basic answers. It looks better and operates faster than a much older application called "The Banker's Secret." "The Banker's Secret" is a book written by Marc Eisenson, is available on Amazon.com and was originally written in the 1970s or 1980s. Its premise is the use of monthly prepayments to reduce the overall interest cost on a loan. The Amazon book description reads, "Pre-paying saves money on all kinds of loans, including home and student loans, as well as those costly credit card balances..." "The Banker's Secret" is also available as a software application for Windows and Mac, but only available for the older Mac Classic operating system, and, even then, it has not been updated for many years. The author's web site states that it's available for Mac on 3.5" floppy! There are loan software applications that do more, but they are more complicated, much larger in size, and may have features that are rarely or never used. By all means, obtain a complex loan software application, if you encounter those situations, or if you're curious about how complex loans work. Because of its simplicity, ease of use, appearance, and speedy results for basic loans with pre-payment options, I give this application FIVE STARS.

Fairly lackluster application. FinFlow and FinLease from Paranzasoft do a lot more, and do it easier. http://www.paranzasoft.com/

07/20/2003 I am searching for a loan amoritization table to see payments from 4% to 7% per thousand with no luck. We are looking for a table for both 15 and 30 years. Would you be able to e-mail me a copy or e-mail where I may find the information on the internet. Thank you, Diane Mason dianemason@hotmail.com
