A really simple & superb solution for all users! The really great thing is that HS uses Apple Word Services to check spelling in Apps, which either have no such capability, or depend on cumbersome extensions to check spelling!

I use this great little program to access the best spell checker out there today, "CocoAspell" with ANY application on my Mac.

Although "CocoAspell" works very well with all Coco-applications, it will not work with non-Coco-applications. Thus HyperSpell lives on my menu bar. I write using AbiWord, which also uses Aspell and now can use the same specialized dictionaries in all my applications.

In apps that already utilize the built-in spell checker all you have to do is right or control click on them and the OS will give you it's best guess at the top of the context menu.

Also, and I can't recall which, one of the f-keys brings up a list of words as well from the spell checker. It works well in apps that support it like TextEdit for example. And it's all free.

I agree with some of the other comments. There are enough programs compatible with Apple's internal speller, plus free dictionaries, spellers such as Excalibur, MacDict, OmniDictionary, etc. and other products with better value and more features that make $10 for this product a less than optimum value - a least in my opinion. I would suggest research your options so that you are making an informed decision before spending money on this product. After all, with Panther, even Text Edit can function as a Speller.

Is this a joke? You have to double work to correct. Soon most programs will be written to take advantage of Apple's built in spell checker.

Very cool utility. It's very simple and elegant. Does just what I need without a bunch of extra crap. I enter small amounts of text into a database that gets displayed on a public web site and this lets me make sure I don't have any typos without switching applications. HIghly recommended.

NOT for ten bucks...simply not worth it. Put your money into a program like SpellCatcher (that is now being sold be its original developer) or Grammarian simply because for the money difference you receive substantial more that is truly useful.

This program is pretty sweet. One suggestion would be to be able to drag and drop a file onto it and have it automatically scan through it instead of copy pasting into it. I'm working on an intensive text using Flash project at the moment and it'd be great to have Hyperspell do my work for me haha
