Yup .. i'm back.
And *now* .. i'm in total agreement with Charlie's review of Spamfire. And his *better* choice of POPmonitor.
Spamfire started *out* to be pretty groovy. But .. as time went on .. it became *seriously* bogged down in its own downloads, data, and associated tasks. Even after telling it not to back up!
So .. i've laid Spamfire aside .. and purchased POPmonitor. POPmonitor helps you take care of things at the mailserver directly. And it can be set to *autodelete* any blocks or filtration of email junk that you so designate *before* downloading it to your email app.
Sorry Spamfire .. too bad .. gotta move on ...
Spamfire is a good tool, to be sure. Nevertheless, it does not remove spam from your inbox, as advertised. Moreover, it fills your inbox with spam which you then have to wade through to find the legitimate emails. Some have to be rescued, others are easy to identify. Only after dealing with this inconvenience, can you rid your inbox of spam.
POPmonitor on the other hand, indeed removes the spam from your server, thus leaving many fewer spam in your inbox. If Spamfire could do the same, it would truly be a great tool rather than just a good one.
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!
At first .. it seemed a bit too techy and overwhelming. But .. there's a tutorial; don't know if it's in the unregistered version; i went straight to the serial number/download Pro version. And the tutorial is one of the best i've seen for easy learning of how to use this *gem* of an application!
Key point >>> Spamfire uses a "scoring" system for incoming email instead of single filter like that included in other apps of this sort. As well .. you can *even* adjust the level of email security by simply using a slider control to set the "score" ceiling!
And a bunch of other combinative stuf .. like a 'filter subscription/download' that is kept up to date by Spamfire HQ and the people that have purchased it!
This a way cool gizmo!
Money well spent!
*Thankyou* Spamfire dudes/dudettes!
