The developer is a nice guy. I've emailed him in the past and has responded politely and professionaly. He's more than willing to offer the software for free and it runs nicely, too. My thoughts are that if you'd like to encourage him, send him a little extra.

james - i have written the developer as well, but not about the translation matter. It seems the comment he gave you is rather "free will-ish". I mean, starting a petition to get a bible translation or commentary released to public domain? Sometimes the six year olds say all that's necessary - Out of the mouths of babes...

KJV is public Domain. Most others arent. I'm sure if anyone would care to provide the developer with the funds to license the NKJV or something hed be happy to do so.

This is a great beginning. I wish the developer wisdom and capability as he expands this program.

For anyone's info, there are other Bible programs available, some online and some downloadable:

This is an amazing program, thank you very much Mr. Wright! I've been looking for a decent program like this forever, and this one is infinitely better than I expected to find :)

I think the iBible is excellent and can't wait for the other translations.

Regarding selling the Bible - when were we able to walk into a bookshop and ask that we have the Bible on the shelf for free?!

to anonymous... he isn't selling the word of god... he's selling his work. that's a perfectly sound biblical principle. cheers!

That's too bad Einstein couldn't imagine such a thing. The place where he stumbled was over the question of good and evil, and invited two ministers of different faiths to his house to discuss. He didn't get a satisfactory answer, but obviously the question bothered him. He never did seek to find out whether it was true or not, whether it was historical, etc. But stumbled with his own questions, though convinced there must be a God who "didn't play dice with the universe".
(Thank you for this software, Lief)

......it's just weird to me that people are selling the word of God.....

"I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotism."
