ZWIGGYBO  This was a 'decent' app which I purchased a couple years ago before discovering Vienna. After if went free I was understandably pissed, but now the owners simply allow it to be synced with Google and want to charge folks who've paid for this.

It's about principle, they have screwed over their customers, for an insignificant modification to a very average app.

I would heavily recommend other newsreaders that are free if you do not use Google News, and if you do.... well, use the Google News interface because NetNewsWire doesn't synchronize well and the Google News interface is better anyways.

ZWIGGYBO  The above comment is absolute bunk! I have had excellent support by this company, and honestly believe they have been generous in allowing me a free upgrade once although I was on the fence for being eligible.

In the past they did have a support forum, and were incredibly responsive; now they use a support ticket system and provide great support.

I originally purchased about four years ago, and still have nothing but positive things to say about SOHO Notes - it is oe of the few applications that I use daily, and save many of the notes I otherwise would have lost.

ZWIGGYBO  It probably requires admin access because of the following feature:

"calibre has a builtin web server that gives allows you to access your ebook collection using a simple browser from any computer anywhere in the world. It can also email your books and downloaded news to you automatically."

In order to turn server on or off, requires admin rights I believe.

ZWIGGYBO  I love the new version (3). Tabbed browsing of messages should open on apple-click, but still a nice feature.

I prefer this for newsgroups/list, and version 2 has always been good to me, and so far version 3 is good too.

TaskMate

ZWIGGYBO  I like this application, but there is one feature that would make it particularly convenient/easy to use- an icon in the taskbar. I have been using Check Off for a long time now, simply because I can click the icon on the taskbar and see what is on my todo list.

Another feature that is nice, is the use of OSX color tags.

Regardless, this is a nice app and it is nice in its design/appearance.

ZWIGGYBO  I can't help but notice in this persons profile that they do nothing but spam developers with bad reviews. Try the application and decide for yourself.

ZWIGGYBO  I found Chordmate a while ago when I was looking for an application that would allow me to make quick and easy chord sheets for my guitar students, and have been VERY happy with it.

It makes very nice chord diagrams, and with version 1.4 allows the user to make custom chord diagrams.

It's also a snap to copy/paste, and save the chords as images.

The developer is also very responsive to feedback, and seems to strive to make the product better.

I highly recommend it, and regard Chordmate as a useful tool which does exactly what it is supposed to do.
