Works so far with Leopard - but is there any way to get the FruitMenu items to appear in the main cmm, rather than in the More... section? |

I Leopard, it's not possible to make the Strings bold even if the prefs say they are (i.e. in Courier New where there is a Bold option). |

I repair permissions after installing large apps, or before/after installing OS updates, or before large backups. RP takes around 10 times as long in Leopard as it did in Tiger, and the reason I'm disappointed is because there was a lot of comment on the internet that this was just a 10.5.1 issue which would be addressed in the next update, which it ain't. It's not a big deal, but then there's no information I've found as to why it takes so much longer to run now - with 100% cpu for most of the time it's running. |

I'm disappointed that Repair Permissions in 10.5.2 still takes a horribly long time, and ramps the processors up to 100%. |

I'm getting (from all the download sources for 4.0) a 7.6Mb .dmg with 0 bytes content. Anyone else having this problem? I've tried different browsers, same issue. |

v0.22b the bundle doesn't open as an app on my mbp using 10.4.11 - it just bounces once and closes again. |

Yes, that does appear to be a problem. |

The version that you get to download using your product registration details, at http://haoli.dnsalias.com/ld/d.php?saft.hqx will work successfully with the Safari 3 installed by 10.4.11, I'm happy to say... |

See my note above about getting PithHelmet v2.7 to work with 10.4.11 and the Safari 3 final. |

If you're trying and failing to get v2.7 to work in Tiger with the Safari v3 final that came with 10.4.11 update, you need to open the info.plist in the PithHelmet bundle and change the MaxBundleVersion from 522 to 523. |

(from the NeoWiki): "So...is NeoOffice written in Java? No. NeoOffice is a Mac OS X native version of OpenOffice.org that uses small amounts of Java code for graphics drawing and configuration. OpenOffice.org is written primarily in platform-agnostic C++. However, NeoOffice takes advantage of Mac OS X's advanced Java integration to tap into the Mac OS X look-and-feel. In other words, the little bits of Java in NeoOffice primarily have to do with operations that affect how the application appears to the user. The "guts" of the office suite are written in C++. (The code that makes up NeoOffice is 99% OpenOffice.org code shared among all OpenOffice.org platforms and 1% Mac OS X-specific code in Java, C++, C, and Objective-C. Ohloh.net shows that the NeoOffice-specific code is 93% C/C++.)" |

Not quark's fault, in the end - the result of an archive/install in OSX leaving some of the more 'system' files out of some large apps. Quark gave me a fix for it pretty promptly. |

I've made a request for the option to delete only interface language resources, and leave language tools alone, since it appears (though I can't confirm this) that Monolingual also deletes all the spellchecking dictionaries as well as the interface resources, which I really wasn't expecting. |

A great little app that will almost work on intel macs too - it does crash now and then, so save editing regularly! |

Since these come with no documentation, you might be interested to know that in order to use them, you need to install the files in the folder ~/Library/Preferences/Quark/QuarkXPress 7.0/Output Styles/ and THEN rename them so they read e.g. Press_HighPDF.OutputStyle.xml rather than Press_HighPDF.xml. On relaunch of Quark ,they'll appear in the menu of available PDF profiles. |

OSX only auto-defrags files smaller than 20Mb, which lets's face it these days means a lot of files remain undefragged! |

I had no idea how much I used this CMM until I got an intel mac and stopped being able to use this - I really hope these folks recompile their CMMs sometime soon so we intel-users can have them back again. |

Since one can choose (in Finder prefs) not to show any mounted volumes on the desktop, I can see this is useful if you want less 'desktop clutter'. I would happily use this app in preference to having desktop icons: • if I could choose Get Info from the menu as well as unmounting a volume • if the menu showed unmounted volumes that haven't been ejected - once I unmount a volume using this app, there's no way to remount (or eject) it directly, I have to use either Terminal or Disk Utilities to remount (or eject) the volumes. This is relevant because if I unmount one volume on a partitioned firewire drive, for instance, I might want to remount it - and if I unmount all the volumes, the drive itself is still not ejected so the disk is not spun down, but there's no way to get back at it from here. I hope this is useful feedback... :) |

Just to clarify, NeoOffice is not 'based on java' but uses some java calls on top of (almost entirely) C code and cocoa to draw windows etc. without needing X11 to run. This X11 version is therefore a little more speedy than NeoOffice, especially on older macs, but NeoOffice is better integrated with OSX. Speed/usability you can decide on for yourself, as you can install them side by side and try both - personally I find it useful to have both for that reason (e.g. on my old powerbook, running macros or a search/replace on a large doc is a lot faster in X11 but I prefer NeoOffice for pretty much everything else). |

I'm very impressed with SpamSieve so far - it get very accurate very quickly. And since you can set it up to launch/quit when your mail app of choice does, you can make it run dockless if you like (see http://www.yoxi.net/anitya/dockncover.html for instructions - I've got fed up with trying to work around the 'no angle brackets in reviews' thing in MacUpdate!). Worth every penny. |

You add these 2 lines before the last one in the info.plist file: [key]NSUIElement[/key] [string]1[/string] replacing the [ & ] with angle brackets (the macupdate comments system eats angle brackets so I can't type them here...) |

And I can't help but add that from a buddhist perspective, at least, 'integer' and 'infinite' are just mutually augmentative concepts - we have this idea of 'separate things' and of a 'finite or infinite number of them', but they're just conventions for describing an experience - language is just a modelling tool, and a model is just a better or worse attempt to describe experience. Anyway, you could say that adding enhancements expands the *realised* number of limitless possibilities for this app if you want to stay picky ;) |

The advantage of this implementation of OOo is that you don't have to keep it in your startup volume's /Applications folder to use it. If you want an OOo implementation that doesn't need X11 and runs more natively in OSX, try NeoOffice - currently available based on OOo v1.1.5, but the v2.0.2 is in alpha testing right now and is already very stable. Uses native OSX fonts and print dialogue, and work on a more OSX-native GUI is in progress. An intel version is expected sometime in the summer. Meanwile, OOo v2 will run on any panther/tiger mac that has X11 installed. |

Dammit, I forgot that this system edits out stuff in angle brackets - so what you need to add to the info.plist file looks like this: {key}NSUIElement{/key} {string}1{/string} but replace the curly brackets with angle brackets like the rest of the entries in the file you're editing. TextEdit is fine for editing the plist file, by the way. |

You can make this a non-Dock app by goinginto Package Contents and editing the info.plist file by adding the lines: NSUIElement 1 which will make Namely a background app - this means you can't quit it the normal way, but it's invisible until you invoke it from the keyboard. Neat. |

It's not possible to change the java version NeoOffice uses - NeoOffice/J (v1.1) will only use v1.3.1, NeoOffice (v1.2) will only use v1.4.2 (and is thus only compatible with OSX 10.3 upwards). If you change the default java in your OS to 1.5, NeoOffice will not work, but as the other poster said, it's a more under the bonnet job to change the system's default java version. |

In my review below I said that there was a problem with the margins and clipping - but I've confirmed that this is NOT a problem with Christoph's app. It's simply that if the initial document's left/right margins are very narrow, once they get rotated into a landscape booklet, the edges of the pagelets may be out of the top/bottom printable area for your printer, as they are (just) for my HP Officejet 1100. You can easily get around this by reducing the %-age size in the Page Setup before printing. |

If you're looking for the pdf file, it's written in the /tmp folder, so if you want to keep it for later you'll have to move it or Save As in Preview. Also, on my British English setup, the PDF Services item appears in the /Library/PDF Services folder as PDF Create Booklet, but appears in the actual menu in Dutch, for some reason. And finally, something's up with the page margins - the right edge of each righthand page is clipped. I don't know if this is because the service isn't respecting the A4 paper size, or what. A good and useful service, though, once these things get ironed out. |

Lovely - nice bells! The enhancements I'd appreciate are: • a bell at the start, with option to set the delay after clicking the Start button - it's a good way to get intto the mood. • bells at timed intervals for meditation in stages - e.g. 5 stages, 5 minutes each, with a bell at start and end as well, with option to set the number of stages and their length. Of course, it's fine as it currently is, I'm just lacking contentment... |

Or, on the other hand, you could have been running it since v1.x from Panther to 10.4.5 and had no problems whatsoever while running it in an work-intensive environment, as I have. YMMV. |

Tried it with my 15" titanium powerbook and D-Link USB adapter, but it says it's not needed. So, as someone else suggested, perhaps it depends on the version of adapter one has installed. |

I like this a lot - easier to use than ToDo X which I was using a while back. A few bugs (I couldn't find anywhere on Justin's site a way to email him about bugs, so I'm having to post them here): • currently I can't change the font colours of the task/folder font in prefs, even though it gives me the options to do so • the 'do you really want to delete this?' dialog needs to pop up on top of the menu, because otherwise sometimes it ends up behind it and I can't click on the buttons! • once there are folders with items in them enough to fill up the pane, there's no way to add a folder at top level without closing all the other folders first (to create a space to click in), as far as I can tell |

Hmm... an app named just so's the developer can use the phrase "deep-penetrating COX " in the description? Let's hope the app gives satisfaction. |
