YOSHINATSU I've found a workaround to the issue I had. I figured there was some kind of "conflict" on the fontconfig files, so I had to complete delete Mplayer which would change the configuration each and every time, and then run the following command on the Terminal: sudo chmod a+w /usr/X11/var/cache/fontconfig (Version 1.0.3)

YOSHINATSU Ahhhh, Firefox... Still the king of all the internets. The "Properties" bug has now been fixed on 3.6b2 too, and has been replaced with more sophisticated options, like "View Image Info". ONCE AGAIN, well done Mozilla. (Version 3.6b2)

YOSHINATSU 1.0.3 seems more stable, but I'm on 10.6.1, and me and a friend of mine have both encountered a weird problem with .mkv files. There are certain .mkv files where VLC just takes 1 minute or so to open them, or just crashes. That alone made me switch to Mplayer, since I have A LOT of .mkv files and I love them. MEGAS88 I found the solution to this problem last night in the fourms. Check out the last post here. I'll put it here just in case. Now mkv's open almost instantly for me like they should. http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=44346&start=30 Re: X264 .MKV file on VLC... cannot play, help MAC NOOB!! New postby EvoIce on Sun Nov 01, 2009 2:14 pm Hello I recently stumble upon this Thread while having trouble with Playing 1080p mkv video on VLC version 1.0.2 on my Macbook Pro 2.6 ghz 4 gb ram 8600M GT 512mb. While looking around I found that you can change how VLC opens MKV files, in the pref>input/codecs>Demuxers>Matroska. one of the issues were with long load times on big mkv files. Their (VLC forums') solution was to untick the preload Directory box, which didn't solve the problem, so I started playing with the preferences. I found if I unchecked all the boxes except for "seek based on percent not time" the video plays flawlessly, perhaps not flawlessly but it doesn't crash! Please tell me if this has worked for you, or what prefs did you change so that it works, Thanks (Version 1.0.3)

FLAVUM I have the same problem as you. I believe that many of the crashing/freezing problems are related to subtitles. I also have many mkv files, and some of them open and play fine until I turn on subtitles under the Video menu. Then the movie freezes, forcing me to quit (or force-quit) VLC. Earlier versions didn't exhibit this behavior (prior to 1.0.2). (Version 1.0.3)

YOSHINATSU I get some (rather numerous) unexpected quits with 5.2.5 on 10.6.1. Certainly not as stable as 5.2.3, the version I used to have before updating. It 5.2.3 worked just fine for me on 10.6.0. (Version 5.2.5)

YOSHINATSU Pages is the perfect tool for writers. Implementing little features of DTP, along with nice thing like proper Word importing, and native export to .pdf/.doc, it's one of the best apps Apple has ever made. Mac, Linux, or Windows, Firefox is STILL the BEST of its kind, now reaching 93/100 on the Acid3 test. Way to go Mozilla, and thanks for offering us this true gem for free all those years! Songbird | Apr 8 2009 |
YOSHINATSU Songbird is a really good piece of software, and it REALLY could have the potential of being "the Firefox of audio players". Taking features from iTunes, Winamp and implementing new innovative ones, along with the use of add-ons, Songbird could have that "something" we all have wanted since the beginning of the MP3 era. The Mac OS X port could have been more native though. Songbird needs to implement the philosophy of Firefox 3 to achieve something on Mac OS X. (Version 1.1.2)

Truth is, I too, would like the tabs back, or at least an option to have them either on top like they are, or as tabs. The new "Top Sites" is really nice, while an idea from Opera. I find the interface nicer though. It's better than it was, really. As for the speed... Just... WOW! (Version 4.0b1)

INCARNATE It's also worth noting that our Public Alpha launched in May of 2002, a year before EVE. We are contemporaries, and I'm sure we have similar influences, but that doesn't make ours a derivative or copy. EVE has had greater success, and is better known, but our development started in 1998. It would be more apt to point out similarities to the early X-Wing or Wing Commander titles, the games that truly inspired us. (Version 1.8.57)
