WJB3WVU Ditto, ditto, ditto. I was a regular contributor to MTR, but it finally began to feel a little too much like extortion. Now, even as a prior donater, getting the newest version requires jumping through so many hoops that it makes your head hurt. I wrote off MTR about a year ago. (Version 1.2.1)

WJB3WVU I've been using this program for a long time now. When it was purchased by the current developer, they changed it in a way that isn't necessarily better, so I've decided not to upgrade (for free) and have stuck with version 2.7.4 - the last iteration before changing hands. The new style seems cluttered to me, with all the flags under the category column, and all the check-marks under the recipe column. Why? The old version accomplished the same thing without the clutter. Less is more. (Version 3.0.5)

WJB3WVU I was going to try this program but after reading the comments of poor customer service, I'll pass. I've had it with companies that won't support their product. Customer service should be their number one priority after providing a quality product. Thanks to comments like those posted here, we no longer have to purchase a product to find out things like this. (Version 2.6.1)

WJB3WVU Very nice. I tend not to use things like this, as they simply mimic an application already on your desktop, but this one is pretty slick and convenient. There are so many clocks visible, even while widgets are up, I wish I had the option to hide them. Small point. (Version 1.02)

MARCISLAYER "There are so many clocks visible, even while widgets are up, I wish I had the option to hide them. Small point." You can change to the more compact "small" mode for the clocks if that helps. It's available on the back of the widget, or by pressing "d" when the clock tab is open. (Version 1.02)

WJB3WVU I've paid for this program, twice. Once for the original, then for an upgrade beyond my original version. I was surprised that the upgrade to 2.9.1 didn't automatically pick up my previous registration, but it didn't, and since I've lost track of it I'm relegated to a stripped down, rather buggy version now (explanation below) Guess I'm out of luck there, until I pony up yet again. As for the bugginess... 1) trying to enlarge the program results in only half a window, until I actually start a game, then resize. 2) I get photos of players in the small version, but not in the enlarged window. Maybe it's reading a stray electron carrying my registration! (Version 2.9.1)

WJB3WVU After writing my comments below, I have had an opportunity to experiment with this program a bit, and have decided that it's high time someone rated it to help get the word out. This is a great program for dieters. Keeping a record of one's diet is an empowering tool, and this software allows one to keep meticulous records of not only calories, but fiber, vitamins, minerals, et. al., etc., etc. The display is professional, and the fact that it's a free program floors me. In fact it dawns on me that the developers are missing out not marketing this program to all dieters. You should rename it, to reflect it's status as a powerful diet tool, rather than relegate it CR use. (Version 0.9.3)

WJB3WVU Great program. Glad I found it. I don't live on a CR diet, but I do like to track the calories I take in, and my diabetic wife uses it to graph glucose levels. How difficult would it be to give us a US measurements option? Currently I have to convert ounces to grams before inputting foods. Thanks for the great program. I'm truly impressed with this free offering. (Version 0.9.3)

Little Snitch | Aug 3 2007 |
WJB3WVU How do I "uninstall" this program? I've trashed everything I can think of using "Appdelete" and I still get the following security alert from Little Snitch: Application "finderpop-daemon" (1744) attempts to inject and execute foreign program code in "Finder" (107). This is a security risk as it may allow "finderpop-daemon" to circumvent Little Snitch. To disable this alert, go to Little Snitch's Preference Pane, click the lock to authenticate, choose "Preferences" from the Action menu (gear wheel icon) and uncheck "Enable Code Injection Alert". WJB3WVU Don't like it myself. Very troublesome at first, allowing everything to connect. Finally decided it wasn't worth the bother, and then trying to trash it requires a little in-depth investigating as to where the actual program resides. Would love to hear from someone who actually found this useful - by that I mean, it actually stopped unauthorized communicaiton. (Version 1.2.4)

WJB3WVU Downloaded the demo a few days ago and the price was $29. After evaluating it I decided that it was worth the price and tried to purchase, but now it's $49. That's too much. This program is a good idea, but it needs work. It is NOT intuitive, but rather difficult to understand. (Version 1.52)

WJB3WVU Great job! And as a commercial pilot, I can tell you that your simulation is very good - especially the sky and ground. I don't think I've ever seen those fireworks get quite that much altitude in real life though! Not while flying a commercial jet, at least! (Version 1.2.1)

Quicken 2007 | Dec 23 2006 |
WJB3WVU QuickEntry widget is great when it works, but it's always loosing track of my data file, and then it becomes useless. Contacting Intuit is absurd. There is virtually no free telephone support, even for new purchases, and their "chat" feature makes me wonder whether any of them speak English, let alone are they able to help. Emails to them return useless advice. Setting up online accounts is cumbersome, and without support from Intuit you must reley on the institution you're setting up the account with. They can be much more valuable than Intuit themselves. (Version R2)

WJB3WVU Somewhat disappointed in 2. I've been waiting for this release before I activated my trial of DVDRemaster Pro. I was hoping for the ability to strip out all extaneous chapters (previews, etc) but keep the menu, like DVDRemaster Pro will, but Popcorn 2 deletes menus as soon as "custom" setting is seletcted. This is a huge deal, and Roxio missed the boat on this one. (Version 2.0)

WJB3WVU After playing many rounds, I find it a bit teadeous to keep loosing to players, that in the "real world" would more than likely have folded long before the river card, but it is that card that puts them ahead. Until that point, this fictitious player had nada, but stayed in to draw to an inside straight, etc. Happens time and again in this "scenario." Bluffing aside (because the only real player in the game can't do it) it's not a realistic scenario. (Version 1.2)

WJB3WVU I'd really like to see this in a full application style. In fact I'd pay for it, within reason ($15 or so). As a widget, it's necessarily large, and the action is quite fast for someone trying to learn the game. As a full application, you could have preferences to slow the game, or more user controls. Thanks for putting this out free. (Version 1.2)

Chessmaster 9000 | Jan 24 2006 |
WJB3WVU I'm going to retract some of my earlier statements about this company. The program is still useless on my machine, but the developer is going the extra mile to find a resolution. Earlier I had posted that I was not hearing from them. They say they were at Mac World for the week, and have since been communicating with me regularly. We haven't come across a fix, but it's nice that they're attempting to find one, and keeping me informed while doing so. I'll also offer this: I have an upgraded CPU, and though I've had zero issues with it in the past - with any other software - the developer thinks this could be the issue with my machine. EDDDEDUCK This issue (crashes no matter the setup) has not been reported by any other user on the internet and appears to be just associated with your machine. We are looking into the issue but this currently appears to be an issue outside of Chessmaster 9000. Regardless we are following this up with the user in the support system. About the replying, we have been at MacWorld and hence we have not been answering support as quickly as our support team was at the show. We also have been having issues with either our ISP or US ISP's marking emails as spam meaning that some end users don't get replies. This appears to have been solved in most cases now. If you don't get a reply within 3 working days, you can open a support request via a web form at support.feralinteractive.com.

WJB3WVU Time to update my review below. Feral has had a week to respond to any of my numerous emails to their customer service and tech support address. Their program won't run on my setup, even though I have ample computing power to do so (I checked before buying). This game simply won't run on OS 10.4, and they don't seem to care, or inclined to do anything to indicate to me that they're working to fix it. What a shame - such potential, but DON'T purchase. WJB3WVU Just purchased Chessmaster 9000 1.0.1. Wish I had read these comments before doing so. I just won't run on my OS 10.4.3. Crashes as soon as I try to begin play. Feral should have stated up front that this version has issues with OS 10.4. They were more than happy to take my money, and it is a little early to assess their support, but I'm not real optomistic after reading comments in this forum. As it stands now, my $40 investment is a coaster. My ratings reflect the potential this game has, but it's virtually worthless as is. (Version 1.0.2b2)

WJB3 This is an upgrade for me from version 2.7 Prior to the upgrade I would have given the nod to the free OSXPlanet, but this upgrade makes the price worth it. Graphics are stupendous, and cloud rendering pulls it all together into a very realistic graphic. Well worth the asking price. I would like to see an opposing globe image. Since the globe is the most accurate rendition, I'd like to be able to view the entire earth that way, instead of just half. (Version 3.0)
