WIZARD2 NAV is pure [expensive] garbage. Have you ever tried to remove this crap from a machine? It spews hundreds of bits throughout your drive with obscure names totally unrelated to NAV. Even AppZapper missed a few 'bits' during UNinstall. Know what happened? It GREW BACK. Like Hydra. It gew more tentacles to drawe you back into the paying fold of dweebs. NAV IS A VIRUS. It takes over your machine, re-imposes itself if you don;t remove every single remaining piece, and then, if you opt out of their 'subscriptions', it takes over your CPU while it nags you. STUDIODAVE56 If someone actually figured out how to write a real virus for the Mac, none of the virus protection software would know how to stop it. So until there is a virus proven to be released in the wild and infecting Mac computers you are wasting your time, money and computer cycles. (Version 7/02/09)

Norton AntiVirus Definitions | Jul 3 2009 |
SOLOSAINT yeah, that is why Apple recommends Antivirus software on your mac.. http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/240255/apple-recommends-security-software-for-mac-owners.html ..I love the Mac, but it sure attracts some n00bs ... look, every computer needs some security software, antivirus, anti-worm/trojan, anti malware, IDS, etc ... dont be a n00b (Version 7/02/09)

Norton AntiVirus Definitions | Jul 3 2009 |
STUDIODAVE56 The only reason Apple recommends the use of any virus program is because if in fact someone ever figures out how to release one they would be there to try to pick up the pieces a little faster than if they were not even working a Mac program. So prevention from a currently non existent virus would take weeks to fix verses years. If there ever is a virus you will either get it (even if you are running virus protection) or you will have time to buy the software and install it before it gets you. (Version 7/02/09)

Norton AntiVirus Definitions | Jul 3 2009 |
STUDIODAVE56 I should also note that Norton would be my last choice. This is listed as free, it is not free it is only available for your yearly subscription fee. (Version 7/02/09)

Norton AntiVirus Definitions | Jul 3 2009 |
SOLOSAINT oh goodness n00b... you just said that all these anti-virus softwares for Mac protect against NOTHING and are just in case something does come out, do you really think Apple would recommend software for a hypothetical future situation? Sure people, if you believe this n00b, then don't protect your Mac. Oh, and if you are smart and want to check out what AV programs protect against, just check the virus definition files on Symantec's website or in the program itself. There have been Mac viruses since OS 7, remember the program Disinfect? Dam n00bs make Mac users look like idiots (Version 7/02/09)

Norton AntiVirus Definitions | Jul 3 2009 |
STUDIODAVE56 Your true lack of knowledge is showing. You know nothing about politics. There has not been a virus for the Mac since OS9. I have been using Mac since OS6. Never seen a Mac virus and surfed the web every day. Worked at a mostly PC company for 7 years and continued to work while the rest of the company went down because I was doing my email on the Mac. 6 years later they are all Mac. I would get email with virus attachments all the time and that is when everyone else went down, not me. What ever that "n00b" means it must be your tiny brain a bit glitchy because real men don't talk like that. That's all for you, go waste your time and money on all the useless virus "Non"Protection software there is. I'm not wasting any more time with you. (Version 7/02/09)

Norton AntiVirus Definitions | Jul 3 2009 |
SOLOSAINT hahahhaha, you wrote whatever n00b means... thats funny.. well, Symantec is a multi million dollar company, why dont you just prove to them that isnt a mac virus and thus they are falsely advertising... your example of your mac not getting a PC virus is retarded, of course it wouldnt have been infected, PC viruses dont do anything on a mac, its different code that cannot run on the mac platform. hope you one day get a sense of how computers work... but yeah, let macupdate users read our convo and maybe some will decide that the dozen AV Mac progies are all bogus, all of them, sure... n00b (Version 7/02/09)

SAMSOFTWARE In response to your post: 1. Be able to quit Adobe Dock without force quit. 2. Change icon so that the AD matches the color of default Adobe icons 3. Auto-discovery of other Adobe apps, like Adobe DNG Converter, etc I have these answers for you: 1. if you right click on the applications, the very last item on the list, closest to the dock, is quit 2. I only have Adobe Photoshop, Bridge, and Device Central to work from, so I can look into that 3. I would be happy to add support for that, just send me a picture of the application's name in finder and I can add it. I would add an auto-discovery feature to this, but in adding support I have found there is no real pattern to the naming of the applications, or atleast none that I can see, so it would not work to well since there was no pattern or basic layout to the naming. Investoscope | Aug 31 2008 |
WIZARD2 Very well conceived, with logical grouping of stocks, bonds, funds, etc. where they can be grouped into portfolios and watch lists. Superb interface, with ease of entering or importing data, and tracking value over time -- with nice graphic representation and reports. For an early release, Investoscope is a superb effort. Any investor would be smart to give this a try, I'm sure that the developer would appreciate feedback. Mac needs solid 'Mac-like' tools for investors -- and this has awesome potential (Version 1.0beta1)

Schreiben | May 17 2008 |
WIZARD2 In a more perfect world -- Schreiben would be the 'Word Killer' app. Powerful, yet uncluttered interface. Check out the precise typographic controls in heads-up display, or the amazing (and animated) tool to resize embedded graphics. Layout tools, color and font choices, styles, and amazing array of controls are are cleanly and clearly in one place, with helper files and callouts to identify icons if you need help. Licenses are far too inexpensive, and the process from being impressed to getting a license was less than five minutes -- which is almost how long it takes Word to launch. Oh, and the price -- Less than coffee at Starbucks. Schreiben is perhaps one of the best examples of why using a Mac is so much fun -- great software that just works... (Version 2.8)

WIZARD2 G4 Powerbook 10.5.2 also had the same Applescript timeout error posted by another user (-1712). Shutdown and reboot sequence also required over 20 minutes -- which seems excessive during which the menu bar disappeared and the computer was unresponsive. Although Onyx has always been a useful tool for me -- I would hold back until these and possibly other issues, are resolved completely. A maintenance utility should never cause this level of uncertainty and angst during it's use. (Version 1.9.4)

WIZARD2 Based on downloading and testing most recent release -- many of the same criticisms are still valid -- locking up during 'updating SMART status' -- also the false positive for 'bad blocks'. Even so, I did license a copy. If the developer does finally deliver a solid product, meeting his proposed intentions -- it will be a universally REQUIRED product in this day of mass storage of valuable assets. I hope that the developer will pay close attention to this feedback -- and respond to the critique in later releases. Having read his technical credentials on his website, he should be able to produce a solid product we can all find beneficial and support.

I'm swamped with CD's and DVD's of backups, images, old files and documents that may or not be important. There are many competeing products in this realm but none have the interface, ease of use, and speed of Disk Library. By using an iTunes-like interface the developer has achieved the best of all worlds -- loads of information, EXIF, previews, dates, file paths etc. -- with data presented and organized where it can be easily seen and interpreted. The implementation of Smart Folders is awesome. After less than 30 minutes of trial -- the decision to purchase a license was easy -- and the modest shareware fee makes it painless. WIZARD2 NAV is worse than a virus. Why? Have you ever tried to get rid of NAV? I mean ALL if it... the bazillions of files it injects _everywhere_. You know the ones that self-replicate -- like the viruses it is supposed to guard against. ClamAV is FREE, the definitions are updated DAILY, and it does not exhibit the same infectious behavior shown by NAV. Guess I really shouldn't complain, as a system admin I have been paid LOTS of money for the hideous amounts of time it takes to rid a computer of this pest. (Version 4/25/07)

WIZARD2 As a long-time, heavily vested user of Retrospect, I have given Retrospect every chance I can since their belated and ill-fated conversion to OS X. NO MORE. (1) Old storage sets are are unusable by current (2) Scheduled backups are often incompete and cannot be used reliably to replace lost files. (3) Support if you can call it that, is almost useless. ANY BACKUP UTILITY THAT PROVES BUGGY AND UNRELIABLE IS WORSE THAN NOT DOING BACKUPS. It gives one a false pretense that all is okay in a disaster, when it is not at all. AVOID RETROSPECT. Apple's own Backup is far better. And ChronoSync is also excellent. Retrospect's day has gone. And since DELL's EMC has gobbled up what is left of Dantz -- I have abandoned all hope of things getting better. SO LONG RETROSPECT -- I KNEW YE WELL. Good riddance. (Version 6.1.7.101)

NONE of the bugs or problems were addressed, and Dantz dodges the issues in support forums, emails and calls.
