VIRTUALRUFFY  What typical microshaft crap! The previous versions typically wouldn't open any office 2007 documents at all -but neo office would. Now this version 1.0.3 installs... 1.0.2! I've downloaded it 3x and all claim to install 1.0.3 but the get info shows 1.0.2 w/2007 copyright. After install it auto activates the crappy ms auto updater which... offers 1.0.3 as a download! Say yes, download it and it goes into a never ending loop of download, install, offer to upgrade, download, install... Pathetic!

GEORGE PAPHITIS  I share the very same exasperating experience. Even the date on the updater is wrong 9/9/09! What were these guys smoking when they posted this update.

TIMELAWD  come on, isn't it kind of sweet that a major company is making one tiny little mistake. they are humans, who might be smoking I don't know what. let's be nice and let them know that we are happy that they post their updates here. let's give them a break. they are very busy trying to lay an egg in front of their broken window pane.

Until it's fixed send and chant: Hell no! We won't download! Google 5 has got to go!

VIRTUALRUFFY  Bug on opening it before even using it. I tried to use the tiger version since Im using tiger. As soon as I dragged the bottom window handle to increase the size of the browser window the entire normal sized window filled in with blank white space. the area below that the window size was increased by was OSX blank metal. I found I could grab that same corner and drag it all over returning it to normal size.

The window sizing mechanisms are seriously wonky. I am using a 30 inch cinema display with Nvidia 6800 card. This browser is completely unuseable for me. Needs serious work to fix that kind of window resizing issue.

VIRTUALRUFFY  Started to a black screen for about 10 secs then crashed out.

OSX 10.3.9, dual 2 GZ G5,4 GB RAM, GeForce 6800 Ultra w/256 MB,30" Apple display, 100 GB free on drive. Nothing else running.

Looks like it would be fun to play. Will try on another system.

VIRTUALRUFFY  No email? WTF! I wrote them to ask them why they even bothered releasing this if they don't included integrated email -let alone skipping the mac for version 8 completely while their site said 'OSX version coming soon' for the last 2 years.

They stated that email is coming. We'll see.

I've looked at this version but won't bother using it until it has email. Sticking with Netscape 7.2 until then. It looks way too much like a windows version and the preference menus are limited and rather crappy.

HENDRIK HERO HAMLET WOUTERS  Despite the lame name, i think SeaMonkey (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/6447/seamonkey) is what you are looking for. That is the latest and greatest development of the Netscape 7 / Mozilla Suite. (With integrated e-mail etc.)

DMU  The reason they don't include email is that it would be bloat. What killed Netscape to begin with was phasing out Navigator and forcing Communicator on everyone. One app trying to do everything. The majority seems to prefer keeping things a la carte.

BARRY8  Definitely nice for the sake of nostalgia I guess. I'll keep downloading the revises and play with it a bit but I doubt it will ever be the browser-of-choice any longer on any of my machines. I have a hard time admitting it but I gotta say that Safari3 that comes with the 10.4.11 update is really good stuff. But for Ruffy especially and for anybody else wanting the integrated suite I have to recommend SeaMonkey. I gave up on trying to choose between the two so I use them both pretty regularly now. Netscape 7.2 is old-school even for me and that's going way-back. I can't see any reason to stick with it if you're running OSX.

Drive Genius

VIRTUALRUFFY  So far I've found this software to be abolutely useless. To test this software I checked several drives that will not boot. I have run Diskwarrior and Norton Utilities first, both of which identify severe problems and cannot repair them. This program however says all is fine and finds zero problems. Pathetic.

Additionally when you boot from the cd to repair a drive some MORON at the company thought forcing you to register it to use it in this mode was a good idea! If you do not register it then its in 'trial' mode and even more limited in its pooor functionality. Again WHAT IDIOT THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO MAKE THE EMERGENCY BOOT FUNCTION OF A REPAIR DISK REQUIRE REGISTRATION TO USE?!?!?!?!

VIRTUALRUFFY  I use an older version with 10.3.9 without problems. I haven't tried the newer versions to see if they maintain 10.3 compatiblity.

I'd like to see the ability to cut parts off a movie included in a future release.

VIRTUALRUFFY  UPDATE: The black window dialogue box created from a conflict between this and Print Window 3.1.5 did not go away on restart. It was permanent corruption. I narrowed it down to a user preference then had to try likely suspects until I found the problem. The user>lib>preferences folder: com.apple.systemuiserver.plist was corrupted. removing it and relogging in fixed things.

VIRTUALRUFFY  Great fun. I'm using 10.3.9 and had no problems until I installed Printwindow 3.1.5 after that the program leaves a black outline on the screen of the dialogue box. It will not go away until restart. logging out has no effect.

I would like the ability to add qoutes in from the movie in addition to those included. Also, some of the wording is off on the quotes included.

FrostWire

**½..

VIRTUALRUFFY  If you are using Limewire and then run this program and choose to go back to Limewire then your incomplete downloads are lost. I saw nothing better about this and was extremely annoyed to find out it messed up the incomplete downloads.

I see nothing better about this versus Limewire.

BRUCE_Y  My experience is a little different:

I have successfully gone back and forth from my LimeWire Pro v 4.9.37 to FrostWire (4.9.37 and 4.10.x) and have not lost any in-process downloads.

However, one time when i was comparing one of my LimeWire Pro versions to a newer non-pro version, that switch process of running pro, then non-pro, then pro - I ended up losing and having no more in-process downloads.

It seems that the Pro version stores information about incomplete/in-process downloads differently than the regular/non-pro version.

So I think it is true that FrostWire is = to LimeWire Pro.

Thus, if you had LimeWire regular (not Pro) and took a look at FrostWire it might have re-written the incompete/in-process download data db differently, and so losing the data when you went back to regular LimeWire.

If you wish to get them going again, you may have to stick with either FrostWire or a version of LimeWire Pro until those downloads are complete. (or, my reply may be too late for that...)

Hope this helps. (Something like this should be on the LimeWire website...)
