Type: ReviewDate: 19 Jun 2008 00:35Safari is my number one browser, and Firefox is a close second. I use Firefox at least 40% of the time. I like the new look and feel of 3.0. I don't understand the problems reported, but maybe over time I will find some - only been a day, but my initial first impressions are good ones. One gripe: Firefox 2.0 refused to download this version from the official Firefox site. I eventually tried Safari to download it, and it worked first time! Ha! So far, I like it better that the old Firefox, and I loved the old one.

Type: CommentsDate: 17 May 2008 19:43This is the first time I've had serious problems with a game patch. It doesn't seem to be compatible with my year old iMac. The graphic card is ATI Radeon X1600. Now and then weird artifacts will be flashing on the screen, and at least two times the machine froze up and I had to do a force restart. Force quit the app was not possible, so until there is a fix, I am playing it in window mode (not full screen) so the next time the game freezes up, hopefully I can escape better.

Type: CommentsDate: 6 Mar 2008 12:19I don't see this as a image editor. I have Photoshop for that. I see this as a FTP program to quickly put images up for my blog. The fact that it can do some quick on the fly editing is just icing on the cake for me, and I do use them for the web images have to place. But putting rounded corners on images, that's not what anyone usually does for web imagery. Just my 2 cents in a age where the dollar is second fiddle to the euro.

Type: CommentsDate: 4 Feb 2008 17:51There's just one thing wrong with it, but it is a biggy with me. In OS X, the Finder save dialogue box has a Windows behaviour, no doubt to placate the switchers, but it is a useful thing I do like a lot - the ability to click on a file name and replace that file with the same name. Saves me a whole lot of typing. For some reason this software does away with that, and I find it annoying!!!

Type: CommentsDate: 28 Jan 2008 01:20I don't understand the comment either. The bug is in Leopard, not in this software. The author has created a workaround to prevent a problem. He's to be punished or blamed for this? Odd logic!

Type: ReviewDate: 12 Dec 2007 18:40This is the first version I actually like! Before I disliked it to use and I got rid of it, but this version is more friendlier. I paid the upgrade fee after just two minutes of use.

Type: CommentsDate: 5 Nov 2007 22:21I upgraded from 1.0.6 to 1.0.8a and now I find it very annoying because the speed is now variable. Must be a Leopard incompatibility. I hope it gets fixed so the Pacman will not keep slowing down and speeding up at different times in the game.

Type: CommentsDate: 14 Sep 2007 18:57I was having very poor performance on my Mac Book Pro with Parallels, but very great performance on my iMac, which has about the same specs as my Mac Book Pro. Then I went about tweaking it today. Turns out, the application was given well over a gig of memory which made my laptop run like molasses. I turned it down to 864mb (under preferences), then I set the internal memory of the virtual machine to be 764mb (the recommended amount due to the prior setting.) Now both my Mac and the virtual machine is running speedy.

Type: ReviewDate: 11 Apr 2007 13:11I like this, the program is well thought out and structured with lots of workouts after the lesson. However, the price is very high, and for less money you can get one years worth of instruction at chinesepod.com. I haven't tried the later, so I can't really give a comparison, but it is something to ponder.
Overall, this program is impressive - I'm just held back by the price.

Type: ReviewDate: 10 Apr 2007 21:00This would be more useful if they had forward and backward buttons, and also a button to pick cards at random. In other words, be more like a hypercard stack. Type: CommentsDate: 29 Mar 2007 12:43Anyone happy with NeoOffice will not be happy using this X11 implementation - its just too crude and unfriendly - not its fault, that is the way of X11. NeoOffice is always going to be one step behind with their revisions, so you'll be missing the latest and greatest features/security fixes but for productivity and Mac friendliness, that is a small price to pay.

Type: CommentsDate: 27 Mar 2007 12:36This phone does not work with my RingCentral account. Currently, RingCentral has a beta softphone for their VoIP service but it is Windows only. Type: ReviewDate: 6 Dec 2006 23:35This is amazing software, sure it is rough around some edges (my Boot Camp is in Fat32, not supported in this version), but it is BETA and the parts where it works is solid and the parts that need working on, it gets done eventually. The coherence caught me off guard - if I knew they would try to do this, I would not have invested $40 into Codeweavers software. The Parallels ability to make PC apps run side by side with Mac apps, something the WINE project has promised for a long time, is brilliant and the WINE method will never, ever, be this compatible.

Type: CommentsDate: 20 Sep 2006 20:14After playing around with it a bit, I disovered that the game does indeed have sound FX, but they are OFF by default. Maybe you should have them ON by default? Just a suggestion.
Here's a couple more comments for improvements:
1) Please conform keyboard commands to OS X standards - for example, preferences should be Command-Comma (instead of Command-Y).
2) Making a puzzle only 30 or 24 pieces is very hard to do. I have a three year old who loves to do puzzles on the computer, but at her level, about 30 pieces is the best she can handle. It takes me about 30 seconds trying to manuveur the mouse in a tiny increment to do this!

Type: ReviewDate: 20 Sep 2006 19:19I'm a big fan of the Super Jigsaw collection by Gamehouse, but I've always wished they would include the ability to use my own Photos and Pictures. So finding this program was a godsend. I think the author should visit the Gamehouse games and borrow some of their ideas. For user friendliness, GH wins big, simply because they use cool sound effects. I sorely miss the 'click' noise when the pieces 'snap' together. JiXii is a good effort, but it needs to be more user friendly to make it feel like a well rounded game.
Here is my wishlist:
1) Implement soundfx, especially for clicks with the mouse and for when pieces snap together.
2) Link the program to the iPhoto library so snatching photos is a snap.
3) Link the game to iTunes, so we can have our own soundtrack in the background!
Even though JiXii falls a bit short, I intend to send in my shareware fee.

If you have something like a bit torrent going on in the background, it would explain your terrible experience. Be sure you are not uploading anything at the same time as you call out with Skype.
This applies to Vonage or any other VoIP.

Type: ReviewDate: 1 Sep 2006 20:12This Beta 1 is more like an Alpha 1. IE6 failed to load any page I tried to surf to. That said, I have pre-ordered the software and paid my money, because this has potential to be something great in at least a year from now. Type: CommentsDate: 15 Jun 2006 00:35I've since found the buying info on the actual page for the game, but I expected a big 'buy now' button on the developers homepage. Also, the first screen of the game has a 'buy' button, I never noticed that before, maybe it was added in 1.1 after they read my comment : )
Odd thing about the game is that it is version 1.1, but yet it looks unfinished, as if in beta. For example, instead of the menu saying "About Mountaintanks' or "Quit Mountaintanks" or 'Mountaintanks help', it instead says "About NewApplication", "Quit NewApplication" and "NewApplication help". How did this get past the beta testers?
Version 1.1 seems to crash if you play more than two games, so I recommend quiting the app and restarting it just to be on the safe side.
I intend to give my $14 after tomorrow (my payday).
