UZOMBIE  It will be a Microsoft application exploit that will open a hole into OS X. Or didn't anyone think this before hand while embracing Redmond into the Mac fold?

Windows is wonderfully a pane.

Toast Titanium

UZOMBIE  Ted,

Why don't you say something positive instead of negative? Having a bad day, are wee? (Wee as in small reproductive organ)

Oh wait, you are still on a G4...no wonder you like extra features...to run your machine slower.

Anywhoo, Toast works very well. But for those that want other options, LiquidCD, DragonBurn and others. Its about choice, Not about being ranted on by someone that might be better off STFU.

UZOMBIE  It is suggestions like LiquidCD that keep me coming back to MacUpdate! Thank you! I didn't know of that product. I had found Toast becoming bloated (much like Nero in the PC world) and with features I never use. I had purchased NTI Dragonburn some time ago and liked it, but again, developers tend to "over-estimate" user needs.

UZOMBIE  No problems with PPC Combo Updater. Other than some disk activity (system rebooted 2nd time) and Spotlight did a build...smooth update.

REMEMBER to always run FSCK prior to install and then use the COMBO...yeah bigger d/l but it is worth it. Then rebuild permissions after.

If you have 3rd party processes, might consider Safe Mode. Check compatibility with other vendors prior. I mean, come on, how long have we been doing this...works!

UZOMBIE  MacUpdateAdmin,

Why is ths popular (and very good) utility not listed in RED on the Update site, whereas other, mundane apps are?

Is there a download-ratio that determines red status?

Or do developers-sponsors pay for this feature?

It frustrates me as I've come to like Macupdate more than Versiontracker but found this disparity to be annoying.

Adobe Photoshop CS4

UZOMBIE  Why doesn't Adobe's Updater even recognize this update exists? Oh, I know, because Adobe is so self-centered it forgot its roots in the mac! Leave the mac behind! Write bloatedware! Forget updates, make 'em upgrade! Buy up the competition! (Freehand=monopoly! CorelDraw is DOA)

Get Adobe off Apple's Board of Directors!

NEUTRALZONE  Crazy post there. Your conspiracy theory doesn't explain why Adobe Lightroom came out on the Mac first and Windows users are still screaming about why they haven't gotten a beta yet.

And you suggest that Adobe leave Apple's board of directors. Yeah, that'll increase Apple's influence on Adobe. And Adobe isn't even on Apple's board of directors. What are you talking about?

Cocktail

UZOMBIE  Moderator: I think this first poster is worthy of removal. A personal opinion about the author has nothing to do with the quality and operation of the product.

And to be hostile to a race of people (Polish nationality) is unethical if not discriminatory.

I support Szymanski's Cocktail. It's functional and does what I need. ONYX is similiar, was not reliable when Cocktail was released, and also has grown. But I feel Cocktail is slicker and author is responsive. The software has not crashed my mac; its kept it running smoothly.

(I do like other tools like Diskwarrior, TCC, AppleJack...). This one should be in your arsenal. Not racist remarks.
