ADAMLOGAN I am having this issue as well. I have an early mac book pro model running with leopard 10.5, kernel panics happen when insomniax is launched. Sometimes I can launch the program without having a kernel panic, but then the features of the program do not work. (Version 1.3.5)

VLC Media Player | Dec 19 2008 |
TSALAGI RED While VLC is still the best movie player out there, the quality of FLV image playback has suffered since I updated to 0.9.8a from 0.8.6. I used to get a very nice video, but now it the video image is filled with artifacts and off-color. (Version 0.9.8a)

Glims | Jul 11 2008 |
TSALAGI RED You say that it supports Safari 3.0.4 or higher. I have 3.1, yet now I have this annoying message which pops up each time I start Safari, telling me that Glims does not support my version of Safari. How do I uninstall this program? (Version 1.0b4)

Safari Tidy plugin | Mar 27 2008 |
TSALAGI RED The popup which notifies me of an update freezes my source window. It will not allow me to dismiss it, nor can I update. I have to restart Safari to get rid of it. Otherwise, this is a great program. I am on Tiger 10.4.11, using Safari 3.1. (Version 0.2.5)

TSALAGI RED The WebDev settings don't seem to work. No colorized or editable source. This is the one feature I really use in SafariStand. I'm using it with 10.4.11 and Safari 3.0.4. (Version 3.0L151)

TSALAGI RED Colorization of source code, and the ability to apply changes to the page, are the main reasons I use Safari Stand. This no longer works. Please please please add these features back in!!!!!!!! (Version 3.0a2)

TSALAGI RED Perian crashes my Mac (kernal panic) when certain videos are played, including TV show downloads from iTunes. When I removed Perian, they played fine. OS: PPC 1.4ghz, 1G ram, OSX 4.9 (Version 1.0)

TSALAGI RED As I said in my earlier review, this is a good little program, and I was ready to pay for it when the scheduler came out - maybe $40 or even $50. I have developed a few software programs myself and I'm very aware of the effort involved here. Yet $128 seems really excessive. And the scheduler - how much more will that be? I will be very surprised if the developer gets many people to pay this amount. (Version 1.0)

Apple Safari | Jun 13 2007 |
TSALAGI RED Some of the things they've added are good, but they don't make up for the things they've taken away. Two things that have become indispensable to me are a button on the toolbar to create a new tab, and the ability, when viewing source code, to change the code in the view window, to experiment with the websites I am developing. Why did they remove them? Also, I still can't edit a Google calendar, but worse, this version crashes when I try to open the edit page. Safari is still my favorite browser. It is fast and it renders pages more beautifully than Firefox, which produces very ugly pages. I just wish they would solve the java problems so I can use it universally. (Version 3.0b)

TSALAGI RED I've been internet broadcasting for a few weeks with Radiologik DJ and NiceCast. It works beautifully. I can't wait for the Scheduler to be added. By the way, the developer says you need a 1ghz G4, but I have been running this on an old 466 Digital Audio (1gb ram) with no problem whatsoever. (Version 1.0b12)

Sophie | Apr 12 2007 |
TSALAGI RED I was quite excited when I first heard about Sophie. It is an open-source product which is needed by those of us who create rich media content for the web, but don't have the money to lay out for Flash or other expensive solutions. Let me warn you first that this is still an early release candidate, and is still a bit clunky, there is no web plugin released yet -- that is still several months away -- and the documentation is quite sparse, to say the least. Having said that, I think this is an amazing start, and if the developers stay on track, this could be a great tool in a year or so. Compared to other multimedia authoring systems I've used, Sophie is easy to use, even with minimal documentation. (You are advised to watch their short instructional video.) Sophie was developed as an ebook creator/reader, and it will surely redefine what an ebook is and can be. Think of a book, which when you turn a certain page, contains a movie, or becomes a slideshow, or plays a tune. It can link to resources on the net. In fact, most of the content can actually be on the net, rather than a large file download. I repeat, the program still has a lot of bugs, and the code needs to be streamlined so it is faster and more responsive to the user. But it is a wonderful start. Kudos to the developers. Flock | Jun 14 2006 |
TSALAGI RED This application looked promising to me at one point, so I have been following it, hoping that it would improve. I haven't really seen that happen. At 54MB, it is over twice as big as Safari, and loads about 3 times slower. Because I have a lot of bookmarks, I have to wait forever for them to load. As a blogger, I was initially impressed with the idea of having a blogging function on the browser, but I am not so sure anymore if this is much of an advantage if I have to put up with the slowness. I think I will stick with Safari. Even with its sucky Java problems, it is still the best browser by far. (Version 0.7.0.17.1)

TSALAGI RED I run an internet-only radio station, and I would love to be able to use this software. I have it installed, and have read the old manual, but it is of little help to figuring out how to actually get it to work. I am quite software-savvy, and usually a quick study, but the lack of documentation for this program makes it pretty much useless to me. (Version 2.6.2)

Revolution | Jun 2 2006 |
TSALAGI RED Actually, it is correct that you have to re-buy it, unless you can afford to keep your license up to date. That means you have to buy all the major upgrades. A more reasonable system would be to follow the example of Adobe, for example. I can skip several versions of photoshop, and still get an upgrade price. Not so with Revolution. I have stopped using Revolution. I can't afford it! (Version 2.7.2)

Audio To MIDI VST | Mar 2 2006 |
TSALAGI RED Harmony Assistant comes with a script called "digital to note" which attempts to convert a (mono) digital track to midi notes. I have used it several times, but it does not do a terrific job, especially if your playing is slightly off-key. Nevertheless, it does indeed have this function. (Version 1.05)

TSALAGI RED "It is also the very first Audio-to-MIDI software available for MAC OS X." I can't review this product, as I've never used it, but the above statement in demonstrably false! Myriad Software's Harmony has had this capacity for years. It's results are not all that great, but this developer should not be making false claims. (Version 1.05)

ANDREENK Thank you for your comment. You are right, we should better use "first known" or "first popular" instead of just "first", but currently we are completely unaware of any other audio-to-midi software for MAC OS (X). As far as I can see, current version of Harmony Assistant by Myriad software does not claim to have audio-to-midi functions.
