TONY_115  Woah man! I don't speak that much geek- (pileling?) I'm only 16!

But anyways, my problem;

I can't find any Fasterfox Prefs. Help!?

Also, why do you like Firefox over Opera?

TONY_115  I'm trying Fasterfox now. I think Firefox HOGS RAM to the core. Great extensions but you need an awesome box. I think FIREFOX loads pages bad!

TONY_115  I don't really like Firefox. Or I think there are some serious drawbacks of it. It's really slow in loading pages compared to the others (or it feels like it on my machine) and it REALLY eats my RAM (memory). It's got lots of extensions which is fab if you have a fast computer, but my iMac isn't really that old, only about two years (iMac G5-no iSight). So I wouldn't recommend this browser to someone with a slower computer (not that mine's that slow). Get Opera instead-extensions will eventually be out there soon-hopefully.

ST00P!D M0NK3Y  Opera loads pages terribly. You should get Adblock Plus for Firefox. Gets rid of most of the annoying ads you see on pages, which makes it loads pages faster. You should also try the Fasterfox extension. Speeds up browsing by quite a bit.

ST00P!D M0NK3Y  Heh...oh well. I tried. Actually, if you go into Fasterfox's settings and customize them yourself (after reading the little text below each setting), you can increase the page loading by quite a bit. For instance, you should increase the DNS Cache Expiration. And then tweak the connections, pipelining, and tweak the rendering of pages. I've toyed with it quite a bit and pages sometimes load way faster than Camino (with pipelining turned on) and it runs fine on my computer - which is an 800MHz PowerPC iMac G4 with 768MB of RAM running OS 10.4.7.

WIDGE34  I try to use Opera,but i get annoyed with its slow page rendering, Firefox is faster than Opera but Camino is fastest and best at blocking ads.

TONY_115  A good, solid, simple and stable browser. Great for casual browsing. Good for if you don't want heaps of confusing features that you'd never use built in. Extensions are out though if you feel like customising your browser.

TONY_115  I tried to repair my disk permissions but they're those ones that are using special permissions and once they are using special permissions for a file it seems that you can't easily change them back. I wanted to defrag my mac but my Dad has the cd and I tried fsck. All good it says. I still think my mac is runnin slow though. (imac g5 flatpanel without isight)

TONY_115  Um YEAH there IS a reason for a defrag utility in OS X. What happens if you want on-demand defragmentation also, I have found fragmented files on my hard disk when I was using Drive Genius, so I respect you're right to have an opinion but I disagree with it somewhat.

***..

TONY_115  Hey,

Well my first impression of Senuti was ****. This is because when I launched the app it died (a.k.a crashed) after about 2 seconds of it being open. I am using 10.4.4 and Simple Finder. Am I missing something?

GAKESMITH  Maybe you need to clean up your system— repair permissions, etc. It works for others...

TONY_115  This is REALLY a great app-it's just like drawing on a canvas, AND it's FREE (and shareware) it's a really nice looking app and it's HEAPS cooler than MS Paint.
