THOM123  This update indeed adds the option to turn off pinging the DiscIdent site. This is a great developer that listens to customers and resolves the issues quickly. Thank you guys!

THOM123  Ever since version 5.x, whenever you open a VIDEO_TS folder for the source, DVDRemaster is sending some info to a 3rd party site. Does anyone know what that site does? and what kind of info this app is sending without user's consent? Is there a way to turn off this function? Thanks!

ABRASIF  Hi Tom,

When you select a VIDEO_TS folder DVDRemaster is trying to query discident.com which is a nice library for performing CDDB like identification of DVDs in order to get information about the movie (i.e title, genre, actors, etc.). DVDRemaster add this information in the files it creates so you can easily locate and classify movies in your library using titles, genres and many others.

There is currently no way to turn it off but we will add a preference in the next release.

Thank you.

SNOWWHITESICKETTE  NetBarrier X5 preempts the connection, giving the choice of whether to allow it or not. (If you got DVDRemaster through the MU bundle, NetBarrier X5 was included.)
